Its over till next season for us, we have some new products were testing and we had the pleasure of hunting with Chris Brackett from the outdoor channel. We did some design testing of mine and his that were talking about teaming up on. He is a really good shot with a recurve and a compound, he hunts big game with a compound and often shoots trad aerial. He was shooting compound on this trip most of the time for the test results of that type of bow since i dont own a compound to test with. We shot at fifteen birds. He missed 2
I will post more pics later today, but here are a few of the many pictures we have
Chris Brackett, Jeremy Clark, and Cray Goodin

i had a really good day, i had been in a slump for a while for reasons im not sure of but i seem to have worked it out. i hit over half the birds and center punched 3.
He of course had a tv crew with him, i had a photographer follow me to try to get some impact shots. Several good shot sequences were captured
another good sequence of shots captured

i got outdone by the wheels. he outshot me with his recurve too thuogh. Air time is unknown at this point. Im meeting chris next week for business, i will ask him when it will air. he likes to do viral video clips for publicity so im sure something will surface somewhere on the web before it airs on the outdoor channel
out of all the times i have bird hunted i had never bird hunted with anyone shooting a compound, i dont think there is any advantage really. You dont really have time to aim with a sight, and with his 5 fletch flu flu and my regular fletch arrow our arrows were flying about the same speed. he shoots so fast that you have to pre draw on the bird for sure thuogh. He killed the first bird stone dead before i could tug on my string.
please - no pics or talk of wheel bows - strictly trad stick bows

Brackett can flat out shoot stuff out of the air! Looks like fun. I need to learn how to hit more than one bird every couple of hunts.
Congrats!
Bisch
Looks like fun!

Bisch
heard that bisch, i wouldnt want to be flying away from him. i was more than happy with my results with 6 out of 15 and he shot twice as good as i did. he hit 13 out of 15.
we had 9 pheasant in hand out of fifteen for the day. We had 3 more that went down in the woods that we coudnt find(dogs were getting very hot and tired). The others we hit just clipped a few feathers. There was only one bird that didnt get tuoched by an arrow. ive had worse days with an over and under
Looks like a great time!!! I enjoy watching Mr Brackett's shows, he's a cool cat. That was some great shooting and photography. Thank you for sharing!!!
camera crew was outstanding

I'm not sure but it does not make much of a difference once they are flying!
Bisch
Actually Bisch, it can make a big diff. Although I have never hunted wild pheas. ( I have hunted wild ducks, geese and woodcock with bow), I have hunted released birds under many different conditions. How the birds were raised and fed, weather conditions, cover type and time of year (preserves in jersey are open Sept thru March)can all make a big diff. Some birds bust out like a rocket while others can be lumbering clods.
Not taking anything away from Gary Logsdon, but this could a TBM cover...

That good. Thanks for sharing.
CB
Very cool pictures and some fine shooting. Would love to see the video.
John
Thanks for bumping this up.
awesome
I've been reading all i can find on the site about shooting birds on the wing... there is some great stuff! Love the photos!
I'm absolutely sure there can be a difference between wild, hunting season surviving game and pen raised game but I will be thrilled to shoot a slow one out of the air in march! Lol

Back when I hunted pheasant the wild birds with a season or two under their belt, would always run and avoid flying if at all possible. A Pheasant would not be that hard to hit with an arrow, if it go's up at your feet!
oh that looks like fun..
