I got an interesting picture on a trail cam I had set out on some public land in the mountains of upstate SC. This camera was set up overlooking a well used game trail next to a creek. I know what this critter is due to a bunch of tracks I found the next day. The cam was on a hill and was about two feet up on a tree.
Take a guess and see if you're right.

Maybe a raccoon?
Opossum
I second the raccoon.
bear
Opossum
A Chupacabra!
'Coon
I would call it a coon also.
George Jones....
Opossum
ears not high enough and hair not long enough for a coon.
Bigfoot
'possum..
Bear cub
possom
"Rosie Odonnell"?
Possum?
Woodbooger!!!
I'm almost 100% sure that it's one of the Kardashians, but can't tell which one. :goldtooth:
I'm gonna say opossum
My Cousin Vinny!
... mike ... :D ...
opossum
If the ears were a little longer I'd say it was a jackalope that had already send his antlers.
Maybe a possum? Or maybe two different critters that just happened to set the camera off at the perfect time.
God bless,Mudd
opossum, ears are small, coons have bigger ears, and the neck is graduates into the body a coon stand angled up.

Nah! Not as mean looking .
Dave.
That pic looks pretty "squatchy" to me! My second guess would be a coon
Beaver.
I second "beaver".
Hog?
Bigfoot.
The angle is deceiving, but without a doubt, a coon.
opossum
I think its a grinner!
A bobcat.
Opossum
--------------------
I'll second the jackalope. :bigsmyl:
That looks like a greaser to me (Possum)
First guess was Opossum
Coon is my guess.
Glenn
Coon or possibly a fisher
thats a coon, to much hair on the ear for a possum.

My mother-in-law???
Rattlesnake
Jaguar...oops, sorry, wrong thread.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
It's either a possum or a beaver.
Opossum
Good guesses. Here is a another picture to give some size perspective. In this picture, you can see the cargo pocket of my buddy's pants as he reaches around the right side of the tree. He's standing, not kneeling. I would guess that the critter's ear is a foot or two past where the cargo pocket is.

Again, the picture of the critter:

coyote.
Black bear :)
Oh, and it's not a possum, a beaver, a jaguar, or a bobcat.
one of the wolves got out of the sanctuary.
Some have already guessed it, but here is another photo. This picture was taken on the trail about 10 yards away:

They grow big possums in that county, I hear.
I was going to say opossum, until I saw that last photo with the track. Now, I'm just glad I don't hunt in your area! :help:

I am not to good with tracks so I still don't know what it is.
It's a young black bear, probably no more than 125 pounds. I found several scratched up trees within a 100 yards of that track.
That's a big possum!
Put some carp and some donuts 20' out in front of the camera and lets find out!!!
After I saw the pic of the height of the camera in comparison with the pant leg I was getting ready to change my answer to bear or hog. Then the pic of the track said it all....bear.
a bear
it has to be a old bear dont you see the gray hair and i know what gray hair looks like lol
Don't see it must be a ghost! :saywhat:
Anyone who has ever skinned a possum knows they do not have hair on their ears.
