Let's see what all the trad gang members have hunted (successfully or not) with traditional gear.
This serves two purposes - 1. We get to read some cool stuff and maybe hear some game stories we aren't familiar with. 2. It gives me ideas I may not have thought of.
I've only hunted whitetail deer a couple of times with a recurve quite a few years ago. This is going to change as soon as my new bow gets here.
After, reading through the pages here, I remembered that we do have some hogs and I'm probably going to give that a try soon. Rabbits and squirrels are probably out for me because I save all the good spots for those for my falconry hobby.
So, what do you guys hunt with your sticks and string?
Mule deer, elk, merriam and rio turkeys, rabbits, squriels, ducks, geese, frogs, pheasents, grouse, doves, quail, chucker, black bear, carp.
This year I hoping to add whitetail deer and Mt. goat to the list.
Whitetail deer, Blacktail deer, Mule/blacktail mix deer, Elk, Bear, Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Beaver, Ground hogs, squirels, Turkey, Carp, Coons, possum, rabbbits. There are lots of inventive opportunities out there. I forgot Bobcats, Cyotes, would some day like to go after cougar.
Whitetail, rabbits, squriel, hogs, coyote, bobcat, feral cat, elk, coon, possum, fish and nutria.
Successfully-whitetail, caribou, black bear, pig. Small game includes grouse, fox squirrel, gray squirrel, cottontail rabbit, snowshoe hare, raccoon, possum
Unsuccessfully-Eastern turkey, Rio Grande turkey, Merriams turkey......I hate turkeys!
This year I hope to add Rocky Mt. Elk to either list!
Whitetail deer, Caribou, Elk, Hogs, Bear, Alligator, Fox, Coyote, Rabbit, Squirrel, Racoon, Beaver.
Turkey, Geese, Ducks, Pheasent, Quail, Dove.
Carp, Gar, Catfish, Bowfin, Suckers.
Kudu, Wildebeast, Impala, Sable, Warthog, Zebra (anything that would have come into the water hole :D )

Successfully: Deer, squirrel, quail, chipmunk, opossum, frog.
Unsuccessfully: Eastern TURKEY(awesome hunts though), rabbit, pheasant, coyote.

Have hunted hogs without success so far, but they better look out in a couple of weeks.

Haven't gone after anything else with a bow yet, but I would like to try some wing shooting on pheasant or grouse. Sadly Missouri doesn't have many of either of those.
I'd absolutely love to hunt Elk or Mulies with my recurve or longbow, but we don't have mulies and just recently got some elk from Ky. which are now being restored to Missouri. Maybe someday I'll get to hunt elk in my home state, but doubtful.
We do have some hogs, but not where I live. I have wanted to go after hogs ever since I started bowhunting. Maybe someday I'll get to line up a hunt for hogs.
Whitetails, Mulies, Elk, and hope to someday hunt bear, antelope and hogs. Small game is Cottontails, Snowshoes, Grouse, Beaver and squirrels of various species. I've been trying to kill a coyote off and on for years, but so far no dice...

Just picked up my grandfathers recurve, so I haven't had a chance to hunt anything with it yet besides stumps and targets! But will be turkey hunting soon with it, whitetail and yotes this fall

Some Small Game Bowhunted by order of frequency:
Ruffed grouse, Spruce Grouse, Snowshoe hares, Willow Ptarmigan, Ducks, Sharptail grouse, Woodcock, Coyotes, Squirrels, Ground hogs, Blue Grouse.
Some Big Game Bowhunted (but not all killed) by order of frequency:
Canada Moose, Black Bear, Quebec Labrador Caribou, Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Rocky Mountain Elk, Grizzly Bear, Alaska-Yukon Moose, Barren Ground Caribou.
I've hunted whitetails, moose, blackbear, caribou, antelope, turkey, hogs and javelina. Small game including groundhogs, cottontails and snowshoes, porcupines and squirrels. Regarding the big game I have only put my tag on whitetails and one antelope buck. It has been quite an adventure so far with more to come I hope!! :thumbsup: :jumper:
Well that's easy anything I can legally hunt with a bow.

My strangest kill was a desert Jackal. I shot it while hunting rats in a garbage dump located on a Forwarding Operating Base (FOB) in Iraq.Yes, some of us do carry takedown bows in our gear. Its always the arrows that are a problem......

You guys that hunt rabbits and ducks, how do you go about it?
I play beagle for my hawk all the time, flushing bunnies, but they usually shoot out of the brush like a flaming hairball and I don't know if I'd ever be able to shoot one of them with a bow.
And ducks, do you set up like you would with a shotgun, or do you stalk creeks and stuff?
All small game and such but big game has been Whitetails, mulies, elk, black bear and turkeys. I'm still 0 for ??? on turkeys the rest have fallen to my arrows from recurves and longbows. Medium game has been fox, yotes and bobcats.
Deer, Turkeys, Fox, Coyote, Squirrel, Rabbit, Raccoons, Frogs and Snapping turtles, Snakes so far, but I have further aspirations this year to hunt for/and add to list Carp, Crow, Opossums, and Porcupine here in N.H., and A wild Boar hunt abroad, J :thumbsup: Good Huntin

And lots of arrows.
My son and I bought airplane tickets for a 17-hour flight this morning. God willing, August 5-12 I'll be adding some critters to this list I can't even spell yet!

eminart, what kind of bird you flying? I got my apprentice license back in high school but with football and other time commitments never was able to train my own bird, and now im off to college. I'll definitely pick it up again when i have more time.

This was my first year. I flew a red-tail. I released her recently and am planning to trap another one in Sept. Goshawks are one of the few other birds I'd really like to fly. It's just too hot down here for them.

Yes.

In no particular order I been successfully hunted: white tail, mule deer, elk, black bears, hogs, turkeys and all kinds of small game: cotton tail rabbits, jack rabbits, quail, grouse, squirrels, racoons, and carp.
I have unsuccessfully hunted: caribou (in Alaska and Quebec), moose, javalina, coyotes and mt lions.

Unsuccessfully central barren ground and barren ground caribou. Most were shot useing a longbow couple with just Recurve and several species with both. Lots of good memories and friends.
