If so, tell us about it...
What makes it special?
ken
I wood have to say my Hoyt Buffalo! Can't tell you what makes it special except it is set up and fits me perfectly!! A go to bow for me is one that you hunt with because you owe it to the animal and yourself to hit where your looking with maximum confidence and my Buff does that for me! Now I feel good about my other bows especially my HOOTS but I guess the weight of the metal rise just exceeds everything else. I loved it so much that when I sold it, like an idiot, I purchased it back a month later before it was gone forever, I know, its a simple production bow but dang it shot good!! The only other bow that seems to compare to it is a 3pc T/D Lee Hoots built many moons ago before his new design. It is also a 60" recurve which seems to be my favorites.
My Cari-bow Peregrine. Smoking arrow fast, silkin' sweet draw, very forgiving, deadly accurate, death in the hand, silent, gorgeous looking, ultimate craftmanship.
That's all....
I have had alot of bows an I am currently very happy with the two I shoot right now 1st is a silvertip this bow is my go to bow for 3-d an hunting. It shoots great the bow an I were a good match right from day one.everything you hear about these bows is true they just have a remarkable design.my 2nd bow is a northernmist superior this is my frist custom bow an It was this bow in witch I took my frist trad deer with one of the highest highs in all my hunting days I will never sell either bow an have instructed my wife to burrie me with my northernmist.when you find a special bow never let it go.I went through many to get to where I am now an plan on sittin tight for now thanks ED
Thunder: Stick MOAB because it just fits...
Osage and Bubinga riser, Dark stained Angree veneers, and Bamboo core.
60" 51# @ 29"
One of my best decisions in 25 years of shootin...
Mine is a Quinn Stallion, #50@28,60". Killed a ton of game, shoot it better than custom bows I had, and smooth as silk, just hits where I look, makes me look like a better shot than I am.
Greenstripe Bear TD riser -- 51# at 29" Rose Oak #1 limbs -- Bighorn bow quiver.
Traditional Only carbon 400 -- glue in nock insert -- Bohning Classic nock -- 8 inch wrap from Onestringer -- 3 fletch with 5" feathers -- glue in glue on aluminum insert up front -- 160 gr point
Smooth and accurate when I do my part.
Blacktail Elite TD for me. Mine is 64", 56# at 29". I have several other premier recurves but this one suits me best.
62" Pronghorn T/D. 52#@28". Beautiful bow, shoots where I look (most of the time, LOL) and the grip feels like the hand of a friend whenever I pick it up.
Ask Kevin! ;) :goldtooth:
I have 2. Super Shrew Samurai. 58" 51# @ 27" and a Chekmate Crusader 62" 56# @ 28". Both just have that natural feel in my hand and point where I look. I just have to look at the right spot!!!!
BOB
My newest ACS CX
(http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/bjornweb/photo-5.jpg)
mine is a Black creek siren 52# @ 28" 60".it just feels great in the hand and almost shoots itself. (http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss336/Lonnieb/SDC10219.jpg)
Thunder Stick MOAB for me....well two MOABs. Both 60", one is 55#@28" and the other is 54#@28". Shoot and feel the same. Grip is just right and they are stable with good speed.
Bought a MOAB on the classifieds years ago, 49#@28" and shot a deer with it the day after I got it. Let it go, but grabbed up another one last year and ordered it a "twin" the next day! Hope to get another one in a 2 pc. take-down sometime soon.
Mike
My Northern Mist Whisper.
No!... I have one wife and ten bows... But then, I dig my "new-to-me" Kanati as the Go To bow for this season.
... mike ... :dunno: ...
Mine's an ACS, no wait, a Bear T/D. No, a Robertson longbow. No, a Hill. No a Liberty. No, my selfbows. Ah what the hey, they're all my go to bows.
Hoyt Buffalo - feels like I was born with it attached to my arm
Yep, my default setting is always my Bigriver t/d longbow, It happens to be one of the ugliest bows I have ever seen, plain & ugly. But I always shoot it the best.
I'm beginning to like this Toelke Super D ...... A LOT!!!!!
But, my 58" Thunderstick Mag fits better in a tree
My Holcomb 59' 60".....47#@28" is my #1 go to bow. Very smooth and very quick. My #2 would be my 62" 1968 Wing Slimline Vantage Pro....43# at 28". A super-natural pointer and a sheer delight to massacre 3-D's with......john
My Wesley Special Hill bow. 68" pulling 65# @ 28" draw. My backup bow is also a Weley with these same specs.
My best handling bow ever has been my Quillian Bamboo Longhunter, but at 78# draw weight, it is just more than I can easily pull now.
When I want to have fun plinking, shooting 3-D, stumping, etc, I always shoot one of my longbows. If I want to KILL something I pick up the Brackenbury Quest. It is "The One".
My Bob Lee T/D L.B., 47@27, first bow is always a special bow. It's goes through alot, stick it in the ground when I ground hunt. Walking stick when I went caribou hunting, still clicking and shoots where I look. A great bow!
I dont know yet, I got 1 for stumpin and 1 for huntin
My St. Joe River long bow
Got a nice Silvertip that I'm getting used to....love my 2 Zippers, But my go to bow when I want to shoot well and have the confidence to do so....River Runner by Chad Holm, nothing fancy, black glass,43#@28" 60", I draw 29". I also have a bunch of other real nice bows but the River Runner is my go bow.
Nope, Not even close. I'm an un abashed bow lover . I like most of em. I got married to a woman. Never to a bow.
God bless you all, Steve
Jack B Harrison Siberian Wolf. Absolutely, the best longbow I have. Followed by my other Harrison's and Thunderhorn.
Recurve - toss up. Lee Hoots or my Jack Kempf Kwyk Styk.
Matt
Honestly, I can't pick just one. My Leon Stewart 62" Slammer Special 1-pc. is so much fun to shoot. My other is a Pronghorn 62" 3-pc., which is very stable in hand. Grips are a little different, but I have no problem switching. Both are 45 lbs. @ 28" (using the same arrow for both.) During the year, I use both for stump shooting, 3D. Hunting season, I've always used the Pronghorn. Might try the Stewart this year.
Morrison Cheyenne. 62" 63#@31"
I can get away with not shooting a bow for a couple of months, pick up my Cheyenne & within 3 arrow be drilling the 10 ring. I've hardly shot anything else, other than my fishing bows, for the past 3 years.
for many years my go to bow was a 55# 62" century 21 longbow. I killed a ton of stuff with it. elk mule deer, whitetails, rabbits, and hogs. Over the years I've bought and sold a bunch of nice bows and even though I've retired the 21 C, I've never ever even considered selling it...EVER.
Joe
My Tomahawk is my go to bow. I love the way it shoots and it fits my hand perfectly.
My Hummingingbird Alpha male .. nothing fancy with this one .. in fact just droped it in the rocks and added a few little charactor marks on it and didn't even sweat it. Just picked her up and continued shooting her. She just fits
Like the Eagle, I am balding and I shoot a Whisper (well, two of them).
i love my ragim but i just broke out my other longbow (no name flatbow) and man is this thing fun shoots the same arrows as my ragim too
It would have to be my Astro II. With its black alloy riser and green limbs, not much to look at. But she is smooth to shoot and puts arrows were I'm looking. Have taken a lot of game with her. Got it new in 1975.
Bigfoot R/D longbow, 62# at 29in. fastest, smoothest bow, I have ever owned.
I have four of them. Most bows made today will shoot fine with perfect form on a target range. What make a "Go To Bow" for me is that I use my bows for hunting as we all do and when I find a bow that I can put my hand in the grip with the weight of the draw high, low or even a little off to one side or tilt the bow around and bend my body in any way and it still shoots an arrow well that's what makes a bow a keeper for me.
I am going to have to go with my DAS Daala recurve. Smooth , fast, takes down quick. Just feels like a third arm.
Habu recurve. This is the bow that I don't have to think about anything to shoot well. I think it is mostly the grip but it is also a 62" curve, one that resists me trying to wave it around when I shoot.
for years it has been my Habu...bought it around 1999.
I have a Robertson Stykbow I bought in 2010 from Dick and using it really for first time this year other than some backyard shooting. So far that bow is a real sleeper...quiet...smooth....accurate. It is only 53# versus 60# on my Habu...but really pushes an arrow very nicely. If this keeps up at end of year the Robertson Fatal Styk may unseat my Habu as my new go to bow...
For now...still my Habu.
My Jack Kempf Raven with ststic limbs is my go to bow. I finally found the one and its my Raven!!! This bow is so sweet!!!
Thanks Jack,
Randy.
My go to bow is my only bow! I'm currently shooting a Silvertip...but that might change in a few month's. Got me a Kanati comeing!
Jason
Definitely my 66", 48#@31" Black Widow PLX.
I have two go to bows.first is my super kodiak, second and my go to hunting bow is my cascade golden hawk mag.
I've gone thru a bunch of bows to get to the 5 go to bows listed in my sig line...I feel confident in picking up any of them at any given time and within a few arrows being happy with the results. But...there are SO many others I haven't tried yet :biglaugh:
Morrison Cheyenne 60" 52@28 and BW PSAX 60" 53@28
That's easy, my Kanati. It puts arrows where I point it. I don't have to think about it, nor does it matter how long I lay off from shooting it. I can pick it up and shoot well, no matter what. I have other bows I like, but if I could only have one, :scared: , it would be my Kanati.
I always seem to come back to my Red Wing Hunter. I have a bunch of other bows, but when I pick up the Wing it feels like I've come home.
I bought the bow new in 1972 and used it for years, but then it sat on the shelf because it was too heavy for me. My son (JJB) lowered the weight and refinished it for me last winter, and I can hardly wait to take it turkey hunting this spring.
Bernie Bjorklund
NC Iowa/SW Wisconsin
My Holcomb 59 reproductions 43# and 50# and a nice little 52# Tom Kelley that I bought earlier in the year. Pick one!!
My Dakota Pro 62" 50 @ 28..smooth and fast
I have to laugh cuz my go to bow changes every couple months within my small collection of Wes Wallace bows. I have been shooting my longbows exclusively for the past 5-6 weeks and put my recurves on the rack. I just got back from the PBS 50th Anniversary Banquet in Portland Oregon last night. I finally met Wes face to face. I told him how much I love his bows and this year I was going to shoot the longbow and dedicate my time to hunting with them this year. I told him they have been shooting very well for me. This morning I picked up my recurves for giggles and shot them so well I just wanted to scream. That is my well, not to be confused with any champion shooter which I'm not. Anyway, my go to bow is now my B-model recurve, 56" 61#@28" cuz it does everything I would ever need it to do and does it well. From tight spots to long shots it does it with authority in a small package. I guess I would never want to give up any of the bows I have but this one would be the last from my fingers, besides it is absolutely beautiful as well.
El Uno
is a 58 inch KBX

simply the sweetest bow I have ever shot
Mine would be a black t/d shrew i saw at kzoo a few years back. WOW! fit me perfectly in the grip and the draw weight. did i buy it?? nooooooooo... oh well. :knothead: Go to bow now?? Nope, just whatever I'm shooting at the time. todd
Firefly. If it were really on the line, that's the bow I'd take. That said, I don't shoot it very often! I'm faithful to my wife, and really, really sleazy with bows. ;)
I have two go to bows, a right hand Pierce Point 52@26 Robertson longbow and a left hand 52@26 myrtle on myrtle Robertson longbow. I have a bunch of Hill style bows that I also shoot, but to be honest the forgiveness and the power for the pounds in the Robertsons makes it hard to not just use them for hunting these days.
I like to shoot different bows but I have the most confidence in my Robertson Purist longbow. It's been my go to for about 15 years. But I am in the process of ordering a Blacktail so things could change. Maybe
I have recently decided on a go to bow... a Tall Tines LB 64" 54@28. Fits me perfect.. finally.
Here are some pics:

Bob Lee Classic TD recurve. All black phenolic riser, 58" 53# @ 28".
You know its your go to bow when you feel guilty when you have a different bow in the forest with you... Makes me feel like i'm cheating on her!
My 3 Marriah Thermal recurves, and I am currently breaking in a Schafer Sivertip. How will I decide?
My name is Schafer. I was named after Paul Schafer and my go to bow is a Schafer Silvertip Recurve. My dad had it built in '99(I was 5) and he had Dave write Hand Me Down on the riser because he intended to give me the bow. I got the bow for Christmas of 2010. Since then It has been my go-to bow. Granted it took me about a month or two to build the strength to shoot it due to it being 66@29. At this time I can't think of a bow that shoots smoother or more accurate for me. So my Schafer Silvertip Recurve is without a doubt my go to bow.

Schafer
I would have to say this one, Schafer Silvertip recurve, 62",55#@28", "Love Potion #9"

and the results so far:

My 2 Kanati longbows.
Schafer, nice story. What a great thing for your dad to do.
My original Schafer Silvertip 71@28. I shoot this bow everyday and can't get enough. Grip fits just right, smooth, fast, forgiving, and the list goes on. I don't have any desire to buy another bow until I can't pull this one back to anchor.
My 21st Street Chinook- thats right, 21st Street, not 21st Century. 64" mid R/D 58# @ 28" hickory cores w/ black walnut outer lams. Just fits and hits.
Bob Lee tried to replace it with bows that cost twice a much, but she is still here going on 20+ years.

Danny! :help: They are even the right weight for me! In all seriousness though, that #9 is still the most beautiful bow I have ever seen.
Right now it is a Black Widow PCHX but I have a KB coming Friday, we'll see
Either one of my two Blacktails. I shoot both equally well.
On a walk about ,,, My Big Jim Buff.... From a blind or tight stuff one of my Thunderchilds...
