Title: helix arrowheads?
Post by: dougbutt on March 23, 2012, 03:17:00 PM
I was just looking at the new sponsor Stricklands Archery Products website and noticed the helix broadheads they have for sale, does anyone have any experience with these?

No personal experience, but I've heard only good reports on them.

Last fall I was hunting with a friend ( I was steps behind him) who was using one.  He shot a very large bodied bull front on with one. Bull just reared back and kinda did a bunking bronco went just yds and died.  He guides elk and mule deer hunters and he will only use them now and highly recommoneneds.

I think bowwild has some experience with them. If I remember right they worked well for him.

I videoed a good friend sending a Helix through a doe 2 years back. She did not like it and only went about 50 yards before she went down.

I love em!  I have unopened packages of very good broadheads that I've put away in favor of the Helix. Full disclosure: I'm friends with the designer. This means I trust his judgement as long as it takes me to evaluate them. I evaluated and found them terrific!

He asked me a week ago how to become a Sponsor of Trad Gang.

The werewolf is a very good head and I took an elk with one last yr. I didn't get to make a kill with the helix but am going to do my best this yr. Both heads are very well built but the werewolf is a lot easier to sharpen because of the 25 degree bevel verses the 40 degree of the helix imo. ymmv
