Title: MFX arrow?
Post by: huntmaster80 on March 20, 2012, 11:10:00 PM
I am shooting gold tip expedition hunters 5575 at 29.5" with 200 grain points out of my Kanati 51#@28" and they are shooting well.

I am wanting to try some MFX arrows, but looking for advise on what spine to go with? I want to keep 200 grain points, because I like my broadheads.  thanks for the help, Adam

Based on what you have communicated that flies well, the MFX 400 should well serve you.

Yes...

I just had a friend run both through a spine tester.  The MFX 400's are 400 (duh!) and the 5575's are .424.

The problem with the Beman MFX 400's will be the field tips you can get.  I've only ever seen up to 145 grain tips.   I guess you could go 145 grain tip, 100 grain insert.   Then when it came time to hunt you could switch to the 50 grain insert.  It would be close but not perfect.

I shoot the Beman MFX 400's out of my 53# black widow and they are freakin' great

In my opinion at #51 you are just on the edge of being too light for 400s and too heavy for 500s. If you choose 400s I wouldn't cut them without shooting them full length first, and even then I think you would need the 75 grain insert.

I shoot 500s out of my 60 lb Hill bows and I have the arrow at full length and 75 grain insert with 200 grain broad heads and field points with the Easton aluminum broad head adaptors over the end of the arrow.  Fletched with 3, 5 inch feathers. They fly great ! I have a 29 inch draw and the are not underspined even with all, that point weight.  I tried the 600s but they were a little weak.  I shoot standard split fingers.  The finished arrows weigh in at a few grains over 600 if I remember right.  By the way the Easton broad head adaptors keep the wood grain carbon outer strips from peeling up when shot into stuff and really makes them indestructible, I peeled a lot of outer layers off the arrows before i bought these little black aluminum pieces of gold.  Great things they are. Look at the suggested size for whatever MFX you get , I bought mine from 3 rivers.
