Morisson ILF #50 @ 29.5", 550 grain Gold Tip Traditional with Woodsman broadhead. The shot was 12 yards. Broadhead entered just above the ear penetrating brain. Woodsman is intact and completely buried in skull. Boar weighed about 170lb.

Whew...good thing that wasn't a single bevel..woulda took the skull cap right off..
lol
Delicious sausage too!
Nice pig!
I was curious what my Grizzly single bevel 250 grainers would have done.
That is cool...thanks for sharing.... :campfire:
Interesting. Nice Boar
If you simmer that skull in clean water with two cups of dawn and some Oxi Clean for two rounds of 4-6 hours most of that grease will come out and leave the skull looking much nicer.
Randy....I've heard about that oxi clean trick...
Cool pics!
Thanks for the Oxi Clean trick. I simmered for 9 hours in a pot of water than over night in 25% bleach. Will do the oxi clean thing to get it the rest of the way.
Make sure not to boil it. Pigs are very greasy. It will take several "treatments" Looks great.
I have friends that swear by Sally's developer.
Very cool!
That's very cool.
Way to go Alex! Man it looks like I need to get back out there
Steadman-
Would love to hunt with you again. You're always welcome out here in sunny California.
Alex
wow, that is cool!!!
Nice work! Congrats!!
Oh Crud.....don't use bleach. Peroxide, even the cheep stuff, will do the trick. Soak it for 2 to 3 days. Developer from a beauty store (Sallys) is even better. The higher the concentrate the better.
Excellent shooting and congrats. That's quite a trophy you have there.
Good shooting . And a fine mess of sausage!
Thanks for the story, pics, and my mouth started to water looking at that pork sausage! :archer:
That's a nice pic
That is indeed a cool trophy! Congrats, and the sausage looks great.

would definitely give that skull the European mount cleaning and finish....as that is some conversation starter there.
Nice hog!! Cool shooting.
:banghead: OUCH

X2... dawn + hydrogen peroxide for all intents and purposes is OxiClean.
In low concentrations it'll take out blood and red wine lickity split.
Outstanding photos!
Great!
Is a woodsman a decent broadhead?
Cool stuff, thanks for sharing!
Nice hog and cool shot!
Very cool shot and pic's.
I unknowingly bleached a couple javelina, a boar, and two deer skulls. They looked great at first, then they started flaking real bad. It's been several years and they still are making a mess.
Very cool trophy!
Nice boar GREAT picture.
that is really cool!!!!!
LOL,, Now your just showin off with that awesome sausage!! Great shot and pics,, Frank
my first boar was a brain shot. He turned during arrow flight. Almost dead center of top of skull. My broadhead has the same amount protruding from the skull as yours and the skull is the same color, along with the stained tusk and teeth.
Great pics, very cool skull with the Woodsman BH still imbedded. Nice trophy. Congrats
My first hog I shot I hit him right behind the ear. He was a 130lb boar and he hit the ground squeeling and I was so shaken I missed the first follow up shot from the treestand. The next took out both lungs ate 20 yards. I still laugh at how much i was shaking on that second shot.
Good hunt. That sausage looks great. Thanks for the pictures.
Very cool pics!
That is a very cool mount!
When I saw the picture of the skull I thought how cool is that. My next thought was, look how nice and neat it just pushed in there. I wonder if a 2-blade, single bevel would have shattered a hole as they are described to do. With all the discussion out there, what do you think?
I like that !
Prewar70-
I normally shoot Grizzly single bevel 200 grainers. For this hunt I put a set of woodsman 200 gainers in the quiver. I can't help but wonder what the grizzly would have done. The woodsman broadhead is completely through one side of the skull and the tip embedded in the far side. The only thing left to do is break though the other side or completely shatter the skull case.
That said.... I think a skull shot pass through is a little much to ask, even for an extreme FOC single bevel grizzly.
I do know this. I've tuned this set up better than any other bow I've ever shot. There is zero movement of the arrow off the shelf. I think this made a big difference in the overall performance of the arrow on impact.
Very cool pics!
When's dinner???
That's cool...take Randy's advice on the skull and it will look great! Congrats!!

I love those broadheads!
Cool looking trophy. But i wouldn't recommend that shot personally
I tried that head shot to finish off a deer one time, and the dad burn deer jumped up and ran off with the arrow sticking out of his head.
The bad part was.... i was hunting right next to a golf course and that deer ran out and fell in the creek right next to the 7th hole green while two guys were putting.
I'm back there in the brush and i hear, "Wow! Look, It's a deer!.... and the other guy says "Ya man, and he's got an arrow sticking out of his head too"
The bad thing was by the time i got down the embankment and across the creek, the deer had got up on his feet again and i had to put another arrow into it to put it down..... Very embarrassing.

Awesome pics. Wow what a shot!
And sausage... Heck. In my dreams!
That is way cool!
Cool, dude. Nice shot! Even lucky shots can be nice ones.
That sausage looks delicious. A lot of guys here in FL just take the shoulders and hams and throw out the rest. It makes my stomach turn seeing that kind of waste. It's good to see you are treating the hog as the hunting gods intended, as sausage.
Peroxide may corrode the hell out of your broadhead. I don't see how you are going to avoid coorosion no matter how you treat the skull, just be ready for a pretty gnarly chuck of metal stuck in there. You may get lucky with a little corrosion making the whole thing look that much cooler. You'll have to post pics of the finished product.
Very cool indeed
Cool.Thanks for sharing....
