Title: Should I be shooting heavier points?
Post by: Scott357 on March 20, 2012, 11:21:00 AM
When I started shooting trad in december I just used the 100gr field tips I was shooting with my wheels. I had planned on using the 100 gr Magnus broadheads from my wheelie bow too. After a little reading it seems as though most folks are shooting tips heavier than 125 grains. Right now I have 2 recurves-1 that draws 51# and the other draws 45#. I shoot Easton Gamegetters 500 spine/2016  from both. Shoot I think about going heavier on the points?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott when I went to carbons,I looked at the charts and picked the one I thought would work the best. 3Rivers sells a field point test kit. It has points from 100 or 125 all the way up to 250. The kit has two of each this helped me a bunch in seeing which one flew the best.

Geez. I ordered the field point test kit from 3 Rivers...somehow I would up spending $65 bucks. I wound up adding Masters of the Barebow volume 1&2. 3 Rivers is going to wind up getting a lot of my money over the course of this new hooby arent they?

I'm the same way. I have a specific thing in mind and then end up putting a whole lot more on the order.   :biglaugh:
