I bought a new 66in. 49lb@28in. Big River off of The Footed Shaft, while at the Trad-Expo in Waterloo. This longbow has the least amount of hand shock of any longbow I've ever shot.I really don't know anything about them, thought maybe some of you could bring me up to speed.
Bowyer is in his 80's. Lives in Wiscosin. Name is John McDonald. No computer, no internet, no nonsense. He's a master and every bow he builds is a shooter. A true treasure to our sport. Enjoy your bow, you couldn't have made a better choice.
I don't own one, but Cyclic-Rivers on here has 2 that I have shot. They are one of the best shooting longbows I have ever shot and I really don't know why I don't have one. :biglaugh: Really....they are great bows and at some point I will have one!
That bow you purchased is as nice a shooting longbow as there is.
On my short list. Have a recurve John made and it is great. Not blistering at 178 f.p.s for a 630 grain arros, but nice. Want, need, must have one of his 21st Century type bows.
I love shooting longbows, but in recent years, a steady diet of longbow shooting is really hard on my elbow. I bought this bow hopeing maybe it would be easier on me, and so far its been working out real nice. It's a very nice bow, very well made. It also seem pretty quick for no more lbs than what it is. I want to thank you guys for the info, much appreciated
John builds a great bow. My brother and I each own three of his longbows. You can't beat his craftsmanship or his prices. God bless, Scott.
