We have an excess of skids and skid tops at work, so I decided to put them to good use!
I made this arrow holder for $3.00. $1.50 for nails and glue and another $1.50 for sandpaper.
I never build anything, but thought I would give it a shot this weekend.

Maybe a clear coat Ployurathane. I was talking to a few fellas and they had said that Pine does not stain to good, something about it being blotchy.

nice work. i notice alot of our skids at work are oak! and with some work would be nice for projects. but were are not permitted to take anything home. all gets thrown out
Very Nice!
Glenn

That is a fantastic job you did. Keep up the good work!
Nice lookin' piece of furniture you built there.

Nice Work!
Nice work & an excellent way to recycle pallets. Thanks for sharing.
pallets are awesome free wood for the taking. Great vision to see an arrow rack in a pile of pallets! If you know of a lumberyard or distributor that bus pallets of vinyl siding, it often comes Wrapped in 2x6 rough sawn hickory and oak. they will often thank you for hauling them off.
Nice work and if you feel like making another one I really need something like this! Let me know and I will buy one from you.
Staining pine can sometimes come out blotchy so you if you use a sealer first, that will usually take care of that issue. Pine will also darken with age and turn a real nice honey color on it's own without any varnish or anything.
A lot of time went into building that arrow holder... Looks Great!
... mike ... ...
I was thinking for something like that since quite a few time, not sure how to make it.Thanks for sharing. :clapper:
Excellent!
Very nice Rick  I use a lot of pallet wood for projects too. Looks like you have lots of work ahead of you though with all those shafts to get fletched up!
Before finishing your project apply sanding sealer and will really help solve the blotchyness problem with pine.
Outstanding job!
HEY BUDDDYYYY! I see the picture here better than from the text. Looks awesome, and since WE ARE good buddddies, well eh em, can't wait to see one of those made for me! :) Great job! Love it! Now get to fletch'n so we can go shoot a few!
Very nice work!!!!!!
Feel like sharing a blue print?
I think if you added a nice drawer handle to each of those horizontal boards you could use it as a nite table on your side of the bedroom. Maybe your favorite bow hanging on the wall just above it. Just a thought eh!! Let us know what your wife would think about that!!!! :bigsmyl:
Nice job,...Lloyd
Very nice!
Waste not, want not. Good job!
Nice!
I like that and I want one.
Very Nice! but...you should have built it a little bigger so you could get more arrows in it! :D
Great job, looks really good!
Jason
Looking good!
Wow, too cool.
Great job, I think I will have to build one :notworthy:
Thats some fine looking pine for scrap wood and yeah you did a great job on it.
Tung oil makes for a nice looking clear coat finish, stained or un stained.
Very nice! Just don't show my wife I might have to clean up my pile of arrows.
Great job... :notworthy:
It's very rewarding saving something from the dump and giving it new life. And you did a fine job at it.
Exquisite, creative and resourceful!
Nice Job!
Kris
Great idea. Nice work. I had no idea pallets could be dressed up like that. If you use a clear oil lacquer or polyurethane it will keep getting darker and darker, really nice looking . I've done a lot of T&G walls (the world's worst drywaller) and I love the way pine darkens and softens over time. Fir too.
I think you have a new home business in the works...I'd pay alot more than $3.00 plus shipping for one, (or two)! My arrows are standing in "decorative" tall, narrow flower pots..(they match the color of my office walls.) But seriously, I would definitely pay for a couple of these..unfinished. I'd "antique" them with paint..add some old iron casters...man you need to start a side business! With your imagination and talent, you could custom build a few, let the buyer tell you how many arrows etc....Great job!
Be careful Rick , you may have to go into business and you wont have any time for hunting.
Looks nice!
Don't listen to him Rick...you can build mine during the summer before archery season starts..
:clapper: :clapper:
great work!
Wow, where were you a couple years ago when I was working.
Where i worked I could get all the skids I wanted for nothing.
We use to pile them up with other scrap wood and every so many months we would burn the pile.
Outstanding great idea and workmanship.
Very nice.
awesome job.

You did a pretty darn good job for a guy who never builds anything!
Looks great!
Bisch
Nice job. you recycled, reused, saved, and gained.
Thank you for all the wonderful comments and great words of encouragement fellas ! :wavey:
Dye would be better than stain, if you decide you want some color.
Man, that's more than $3.00 in arrow shafts you got there!
