It was a very nice day to be in the woods here in Wisconsin, the truck said it was 82 on our way home. I don't remember another March day when we were outside in short sleeved shirts and were hot. We spent it doing some scouting and stump shooting. In total we found 5 or 6 new places to hang stands and moved one ladder stand. Between scouting and working we enjoyed a little stumpin'. Here are some pictures of our day.
We started just up the hill from the cabin and found a nice tree for a new stand. This picture is of my Dad (Bernie B) explaining to my son, Luke, why we picked this tree.

We worked our way around a point working our towards the top of the ridge.

We thought this tree was pretty interesting.

We continued our way up following a trail and found a possible ground blind location and tree stand location. Here are some pictures along the way.

Way too KOOL!
I love just walking through the woods

You already know how I feel about that part of Wisconsin.
Once we reached the top of the ridge we found a new tree for a stand. This is just on the other side of the trail and will offer a little better cover. While there we took a few shots.

We continued our way West and found the remains of a scrape from last fall.

We set our bows aside and relocated a stand we talked about moving for a few years. It nice to get this done on such a nice day without all the brush greened up.

What is that hybrid bow?
You guys are quick...more on the way, stay tuned.
After moving our ladder stand we checked out this very well used trail. We just didn't give this spot enough time last year, won't make that mistake this year.

On our wy back to get our bows we found a casualty from the winter.

We grabbed some lunch and headed back out.

We worked our way up and found a nice target among the rocks, grass and cedars.

Below this opening is a nice pinch point where we found several trails and an old rub.

We followed one of the trails out of the woods and stopped by a spring on the way back to the cabin.

It was a perfect way to spend an unusually warm day, thanks for looking.

Nothing like a good day of stumping to pass the time. Nice pics!

Nice day out........great to get out after a long winter. Nice long days and warmer weather, great for stumping and scouting.....no sheds?
cant believe it was that warm and yall didnt see any snakes. great pics. thx for sharing
Very cool.Thanks for sharing!
lots of fun
Looks like you all have a heck of a hunting spot there.
Charlie - glad you enjoy the pictures from back home. It sure is some beautiful country.
The bows we were shooting today were a Spirit longbow (Dad), one that I made (me) and my son was shooting a Bear Bearcat.
We had our eyes open for sheds but didn't come across any today, maybe on our next outing.
I was thinking about snakes today especially around the limestone outcroppings. We didn't see any which is always OK with me.

Great pics of some beautiful hunting country. Thanks for sharing the cool pics of your family's outing.
Nothing better than a day of stumping in March when its in the 70s . Thanks for sharing the great pictures.
Nice job on the pics, they told a great story. Thanks for taking me along.
Very nice pics, and what a way to spend the day with family!
We added up about eight new locations for treestand spots on this jaunt in the woods. The woods really tell a story about last fall's movements before "green-up" takes place.
It was a perfect day to be in the timber carrying our bows.
Thanks Jay for the great pictures!

Enjoyed your pictures.
Is that watercress in the spring? sure looks like it, we used to pick some in a stream near Sabin. My great Grandmother loved it when we brought it to her.
I think you can only pick it in the winter.
as always, Great Pics!
Charlie - it is watercress. There is a lot of it here in the streams in our valleys also. I've never thought of eating it but your question made me look into it. Did your Grandmother use it for salads? I might have to try it.
