I know that N central Colorado is/was the hot spot and it radiates out from there.  I don't think I've heard of it in N. Dakota. Its not in Montana.  But I'm pretty sure its at least as far east as Nebraska, and in Southern Wyoming.

I left Colorado over a decade so this is old intel.

Not enough of a  problem in Nebraska to cause a major concern but every year there are a few cases reported, primarily in the NW corner of the state.

Pretty sure it was not CWD that was in the eastern Montana herd last year, but hemmoragic fever

Better scrap ND off the list for the next year or two, especially the western half.  I was planning on doing a hunt in the badlands this year, but have been advised that about 80% of the deer population has been wiped out.  That comes from locals and even an outfitter told me not to bother coming out for a couple years.

Least thing I worry about, nobody even notices my twitch. There's  no documented cases to my knowledge  of it being passed to humans, whereas  there is tons of documentation of madcow  being passed, I'm more worried about eating beef!

There have been reports in western to central Kansas the last couple years and we had some EHD reported with the drought this summer. The Fish and Game in any of the states your thinking about would be the best source of info.

Spots of SD got hit hard by EHD in the whitetails but others had none. In the spots that got it thou the whitetails are almost wiped out. Mulies are what we are really losing in our area. They are getting a brain mite. I'm guessing we are down to a 1/4 of the heard we once had.

Yeah CWD and EHD are definately different beasts.  The deer in the entire eastern half of the state were crushed by bad winter, blue tongue and EHD.   Western North Dakota and South Dakota are similar.

There are still deer to hunt, just a lot less.  Western Montana is holding steady but its not open country spot and stalk.

Hope that helps.

I live in eastern MT and am about 30mins from western ND border and both were hit bad last year compounded with two hard winters. There are still some deer around but IMO not worth the expense of a out of state hunt.

Yes we have a problem with lions. They killed 70 without dogs in about two months. My friend killed a 105 pounder. They are the best wild game you will ever eat.

Wouldn't let it scare you off, there are still plenty of deer.
