The big carp were moving in and the shooting was fast and furious. Somehow the line attached on the back of the arrow got hung in my watchband upon release. It was a metal twist type band and it broke and left my hand at the speed of the arrow. (55#) recurve. Lots of scrapes and cuts on my hand and thumb, big ding in the riser but it stayed tangled in the string. I am right handed so I now wear my watch on my right hand. Stupid things can happen when you get excited and not paying attention. Be careful out there.

Wow! Glad you are OK.

Take your watch and rings off.
Do a search for AMS safety slides or rings. This will keep your line out front where there is little chance of it wrapping around the string or rest. Lucky it broke and you didn't have that arrow snap back and take out an eye.
Ouch, glad all is ok. Arrow snap back is the worst issue. Use those safety slides guys. Lots of guys injured badly annually be the arrow getting hung up and snapping straight back at you.
Been quite a few years back, but there was a young man who lost his life to arrow snap back here locally. He was using one of the spincast style reels and forgot to push the button is what I heard, arrow came back and hit him square in the eye. Always, always, always, safety first! Did I mention always?
glad your ok James !!!
