Title: turkey hunting setup
Post by: Bear Heart on March 14, 2012, 04:33:00 PM
What do I need for turkey hunting?  Are my woodsmans good or do I need some other type of head?  What other gear is essential?

Woodsmen's are good to go on turkeys, picking equipment is easy.  Getting them in range and putting the broadhead in the right spot is hard.

My first Turkey with a recurve I used a Woodsman, it went about 20yds and was done.  Good luck.  Did I mention that bird gave me two shots(I missed from 3 yds) so another vote for nerves of steel.....DB

Even though I am an avid turkey hunter and have my own strong opinions, they won't surpass you own experiences in the field.

If you can't consistantly, while under pressure, place a sharp BH in a dixie cup sized target which is likely to be moving and/or rotating, then underestimating what it takes to consistently take a gob is quite possible.

Equipment set up sounds good.  If you subscribe to TradArchers world, read TradGangs very own "Guru" article in the Spring 2012 issue that just came out. It covers the turkey basics extremely well.  TradArchers World is a sponsor here, so if you're not a subscriber, then click on there sponsor link above and I recommend getting the issue.

Turkeys are addicting, so be warned!   ;)
