Now this is something I've got to talk about. I got one of beloved "Thunderhorns" back from GREYBEARD and after being in the hands of a couple different Tradgangers was in need of an overhaul. I talked Jim Neaves at CENTAUR ARCHERY into "CENTUARIZING" my 3pc THUNDERHORN for me. Jim was more than happy to do it and the Job he did as is all his work is phenominal. When I got the bow back from Jed (GREYBEARD) it had snake skins and some minor bumps and bruises (not from Jed). I wanted to restore this bow to its original beauty of years ago the first time it left my hands and went to CARCAJOU (Scott Dillon). In between passing this bow around I've taken several deer and even a couple nice bucks with it. I'm also sure NYRON (Ron Rohrbaugh) has taken a couple animals with it as well.
I need to stop rambling on about the history of this bow and have some very kind Tradganger (CARCAJOU, OVERUNDER OR FLOODMAN) post some pics for me.
There's no need to explain how well this bow shoots because anyone who's shot a Centaur knows. I know he had one of the greatest bows to start with but I'm very confident Jim can do this with any bow.
Here's a list of what Jim did to "CENTAURIZE" the bow:
-Remove Snake Skins
-Install Carbon Matrix Reinforcent on the underside of limb where it mounts to riser.
-Reduce Weight and Re-Tiller to perfection (Thunderhorns are already there but Jim could do this to any bow)
-Apply Centaurs "ROCK SLIDE" finish to the bow (extremely thick, matte and textured)
-Install a thin high performance low stretch string with his signature "NAVAJO" silencers.
*Anyone looking to have their bow "CENTAURIZED" need's to contact Jim Neaves and have him work his MAGIC*
Thank You Jim!
This is very interesting to me!
Here is Jake's new/old bow...

Looks good
Man THAT IS SICK!! That Jimmy....He's good. Love it,Congrats Jake. rat'
Here's a list of what Jim did to "CENTAURIZE" the bow:
Why did you do this Comber?
-Install Carbon Matrix Reinforcent on the underside of limb where it mounts to riser.
Was the bow tilled for a split finger shooter and you shoot 3 under or vice versa?
-Reduce Weight and Re-Tiller to perfection (Thunderhorns are already there but Jim could do this to any bow)
Oh and great looking bow brother.
To answer TJ's questions. I have owned hundreds of bows from differrent bowyers and anyone else who owns or have owned a CENTAUR will agree that they're the most forgiving bow when it comes to arrow spine. My CENTAUR bows are the only bows I've been able to get absolutely perfect Broadhead flight with several different spine weights (keeping the same tip weight) out of the same bow. The Centaurs perfect arrow flight isn't by accident it's from Jims perfect tillering.
Jim also reduced the weight from 53# to 49#.
The carbon matrix reinforcement on the under side of limb protects and totally eliminates any chance of stress lines or cracks from overtightening limb bolts.
The Centaurizing is more the less Bullet Proofing your bow.
Thanks,
Jake
But...But...But...My SKINS!! :scared:
Nice bow, like the dark color theme.
Scott,
If I get ahold of Jim soon enough he may be able to sweep them up and send them back to you? Just kidding Bud I had to have that bow brought back to its original splendor.
Thanks,
Jake
Jake, I agree the Centaurs are amazing. I will have another some day. Gotcha on the carbon under the limbs. I over tightened one once, bad feeling on a brand new bow for sure.
Jake, except for it being a 3-piece it kinda resembles something we have in common?
NICE!! Jim needs to build a 3 piece version of his longbow!
Very Nice!
That looks awesome!
Good looking rig there Jake...Like that all Black death look...'tourque free riser, and that Carbon, should smoke a arrow...Got a Special one comming from Dan Toelke... all Black,But Big Jim is Purty'in it up with some skins and grip....
Very nice.
Good looking bow and I luv the finish Jim put on it!
The pictures don't show it that well but this finish he put on is super heavy duty and very textured.
Great looking bow! Jim is the best. He did a stipple job on my Widow for me. Out of all my bows, my Centaur is still my favorite.
