Just playing with my first set of arrows. I think I've got a really good handle on cutting and inserts. Was thinking about hitting the rear of some 2016 with white or reflective paint before fletching the next couple. Will i need special glue to hold the feathers on or will the bohning fletch tape and platinum glue work on the paint?
The tape will work on any paint.
make sure the paint is stuck good as well
Thought about maybe using colorrd duct tape instead of paint. Thought which would be better/cheaper?
If you paint you will have to seal it with poly or the paint will get tacky in hot weather.
Try wraps.
I have been experimenting with different glues over enamel paint. Anything with MEK in it will cause the enamel to curl. Fletch tite plat. is what I recently tried and it curled my enamel spray painted caps. Super glue type glues (cyanoacrylate) work very well over enamel. I have used loctite gel and professional, gorilla, and goat tuff. For me, the gel was the most user friendly. Only issue I found is the drying time. It's best to not rush it and leave them clamped for 20 or so minutes.
My next test will be fletch tite over spray lacquers or krylon for comparability.
I just started fletching as well. Got a huge roll of white contact paper. Cut it in 1.125 x7 inch strips. It rolls on just like a regular wrap. I used fletching tape. Works great! Let's see you first attempts.
This is starting to sound like a real pain. Maybe I'll just stick to brightly colored fletching. Was just trying to make the black gamegetter shafts a little easier to find.
If you don't want to use a complete reflective wrap,just cut them down to size and place them between the feather and the nock.
