Just wanted to send out a HUGE "Thank You" to Killdeer for taking me out to the range, letting me shoot a bunch of her bows, and generally helping this newbie get started off on the right traditional foot. I am truly humbled by her generosity and patience. (I only lost one arrow and broke one arrow) :(
Anyhow, a very heartfelt thanks to Killdeer!!! :notworthy:

good thing i wasnt there...i mightve been tempted to steal her bows. That lady has a stable of bows that would make most of us drool. i think she walked out of K-zoo with a shrew, a holm made and an acs. add to that her morrisions and centaurs and whatever else shes got, yep im jealous.
Is she married ?LOL, best of the best she is!
whoa  she let you shoot her bows? somebody should give her a call and make sure she isn't seriously ill :D
unless of course she was packing at the time....
You are a lucky fella to shoot with her. Its on my to do list before I leave this earth! She's a great person!
:clapper:
She was packing at the time. :D
Mr. Kingsnake appeared to me to have been shooting trad bows for a long time. He says he is new to it, so you see right away that his veracity is in serious question. Quick wit, old enough to get most of my jokes, and a consistent shooter, I am sure that he will be outshooting most of us very soon. :knothead:

I thought she just hoarded them :bigsmyl:
I hoard my horde. But a horde has its uses. Ghengis Khan knew that!
Killdeer
Had to really watch my spelling there! :scared:

Killie,
I thought he meant he drove by your house and saw you on the front porch in your rocking chair. :)
Bill
I wish!
I don' have a porch, or a rocker. Even my balcony is off limits, as they are doing renovations. :(
Killdeer
I am absolutely loving the camaradarie of this group! And, YES, I AM new to trad ...at least new to the shooting part of trad. I have been studying for a while in order to 'prepare' myself for the transition, but Killdeer has . . .uh . . .provided my first experience. ;)
Oh, and the hoarde is every bit as awesome as it sounds. Each bow is really cool in its own way. The closest feeling I can relate the transition from compound to trad is in diving, when switching from tethered surface supply air to the freedom of SCUBA . . .or even free diving. You guessed it . . .I'm hooked.
Killdeer . . .normally I would have been packing, too, but I tried to show a LITTLE respect for the sanctity of the trad archer's world. :archer:

that one could have been bad one to hit spell check and send in the same motion.
"and a consistent shooter"
If sending an arrow a foot OVER a target, followed by sending an arrow a foot UNDER a target is the definition of "consistent," then, YES, I am a "consistent shooter." :o
Statistically speaking... You got him!
I went to see where the tree went down. It was near the next-to-the-last target, the small feeding buck. Top of the tree was brushing the trail. While there, I found an arrow that I had forgotten I had mIssed with. How fortuitous!
Killdeer :bigsmyl:
 There you go. It does'nt get any better than that. :clapper:

That was a HUGE tree that fell, and it DID make a noise!
Killie,
Do you have bear in your neighborhood? I've heard them knocking trees over in the mountains of WV while I was deer hunting. I think maybe the bear(s) was, or were, giving me a warning that it, or they, didn't want me trespassing in its, or their, neighborhood!
Bill
She is great, I'd say. She went out of her way more than once for me.
As my daughter would say Girl power rules...Great on you Killie, And I bet your vocabulary has advanced more than 4 years in high school. That girl has a way with words.
So, yeah, the day ended with a bang when this middlin' size red oak came down. Glad we were up at the clubhouse. Not likely that a bear would get uppity in these parts.
I had a blast. I love shooting 3D and I am often too lazy to do the course without company. Thanks, Kingsnake.

Wow . . .That is pretty darn close to where we were, huh. I guess timing truly is everything!
Pleasure was all mine, Killdeer. (Although I may feel a bit sore today!)

Consider your start to "real" archery a success!
I have to say my favorite day of shooting 3D was at BBTC, shooting what I believe is the finest single course location as far as sheer outdoor beauty goes, with Kathy. I actually carried a camera with me.......and never once took it out of my pocket. :banghead:
Quite a start to your archery adventure....and you got to shoot Kathy's bows to boot!
:campfire:
Killy is in a class by herself. You're an enriched 'newby' to have Killy's company on the range. Even us old timers would learn an archery trick or two from that gal. Not to mention we're envious of her stable of bows(not beau's). ;)
Yeah, we like her around here. She's definitely top shelf as TradGang members go. You've picked one of the best teachers to show you the ropes on this site no doubt. And we are all jealous you got to meet and spend time with her.
Oh, Good Lord.... that warbonnet won't fit the gal's head no mo' with all this complemetary drivel... :p
I'm just glad I knew here when she wasn't famous...she still talks to me! :) :campfire:
You guys must be blind to her evil ways! She knew I was a newbie and STILL dragged me all over the range shooting who knows how many arrows. How do you think my shoulder feels today? :knothead:
Just kidding. I'm sore, but it's "a good sore." Fantastic experience and Killy is a true gem.
Kingsnake
Sounds like y'all had a great time! Kingsnake you're always better in the long run when trained by the best.
Always remember you're your own worst critic. In the beginning there will be good days as well as not so good days. Guess what, those not so good days will still show up from time to time. Enjoy the trip, you'll never regret it!!!
Killdeer -- That's what you meant by the tree coming down.
Kingsnake -- I asked Killie if she wanted to meet at the range this Sunday, but she has other priorities. She did suggest I contact some new guy that drug her all over the range last Sunday. I guess I know who it is now. Are you interested? I might be able to get one or two more guys out too, we'll see. I can get you signed up at the club at the same time if you want.
I remember a picture of an artillery officer standing behind the gun with a martini in his hand, dressed in his very finest. The caption read "Artillery brings class to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl".
Could it be that's one of Killdeer's functions to this forum?
This lady definitely has a way with words :)
:archer:
Oh, yeah, sure!!
Sign the guy up right away, but me, I had to get vetted and wait to join the Elite Ones.
If you don't make him jump through a few hoops he's going to think we're a bunch of losers. How about you ask for three references, interview his neighbors and look at his paystubs for the past year?
Once you get a rep for being easy, it will dog your trail for the rest of your life. :nono:
Killdeer
You mean you didn't do this already? I thought the one who brings them in is responsible for the background checks....?
I merely entertained a guest. :readit:
Killdeer
 Go girl
hahaaha . . . She walks the talk, folks. Only my first impression, but it appears to me that Killy epitomizes the phrase, "It's not a sport, it's a lifestyle." Trad, through and through.
Canopyboy . . I am definitely interested in getting together this weekend. I am scheduled to do some potato planting, but should still be able to get out a bit. What time?
Kingsnake
"I remember a picture of an artillery officer standing behind the gun with a martini in his hand, dressed in his very finest. "
A classic falling block rifle will do that. Martini is always capitalized, though.
Killdeer
Killie, I thought you were the one that anointed the Elite Ones.
Only in my own circle. As Founder and Whipper-In of the Chagrined Again Hunting Club, I am required to have a supply of nointments (yes, I made that word up) on my person at all times, should the need arise to create another Elite. (Not bloody likely. :readit: )
But this other club is not of my making, and reels uncontrolled beyond my reach and reason. I abandoned all hope once I entered there. Killdeer just a pawn in Game of Life.

Hmmmm, I think that's eloquent longspeak for "they'll let anyone in".

Was that what was in that growler a couple weeks ago when we signed Matt up?
Yeah....she's a good un....been evident here at Tradgang for a long time.
