Steve O - no excuses this year! :readit:
Ye, if work messes me up this time, I will have to find a new job...
Unfortunately not me.
I'll see you there Gene!
It should be a fun weekend. :wavey:
Looking forward to it! This will be my first. Great opportunity to meet some of you guys.
I will be there. I will be getting there next Friday, I have some salmon to catch and some sights to see before the banquet.
Jack
Jack, it's suppose to be a record salmon run this year!
Can't make it this year, though I had planned on going. Hog hunting with Chad Holmes this week, guiding for Osceola Turkey next 3 weeks. With economy as it is I couldn't turn down the money for turkey hunts this year.
David I hope so. We will be fishing next Sat. and Sun. I am looking foward to meeting you.
Jack
Very sadly I have to give up to my desire to attend it,family reasons and big money to fly from Europe. The gathering is something that I really dream to attend, but once again not able! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Count on me and my wife Karen along with Ron and Annee Lang, Dale and Sandie Karch, and Ted and Jan Judson.
I will be there, giving a seminar about Bart Schleyer on Friday. Mike
Hate that I can't make it this year.
Hate that I can't make it this year.
I wish!
Hey Gene we will see you there! My wife Fran will be bringing her ladies auction item with us since we get two check in bags free. I arranged to go fishing with Jerre Munson on Thursday. Thanks for all your recommendations and help.
Mark Klonicke

I'll be at PBS Portland I'm giving a talk on shooting Saturday morning right after the general membership meeting.
I will be there saturday for sure. Not sure about friday yet. I have to wait and see if I have to go in for jury duty on friday. Figures the one time I get called it's on a weekend I was planning on being gone. Will be there no matter what on saturday!!! So many people from all over! It will be great to meet you guys!
Looking forward to meeting up with you guys and swapping some stories having a few laughs. I just read on another thread the idea of stopping off at Raptor. Sounds like a busy week/weekend.

Unfortunately, the west coast is still in a funky weather pattern for the next week with cool temps and rain...but it should be warm and dry inside.
Woke up to 4" of SNOW down here in Eugene. It is Spring isn't it??
I'd love to attend, but like stagetek I have stay home and make money. I didn't make it on the fall PBS hunt last year because of surgery.....so this year I have to go. Have a great time everyone!
Have a great time, a trip up to Ted's Raptor Archery is always fun. Would rather be their for the fun and socials, but can't this year. Have fun.
I'm leaving for Portland tomorrow.
Made it to Portland. The snow was kind of mesmerizing hitting the windshield in the dark. Glad to be here....will sleep good tonight!
On my way from Wisconsin, in Denver waiting for connecting flight. Looking for Mr. G. Wensel. Havnt talked since Kalamazoo, said not to email him anymore or I would be out of his will, cant have that. Ha! Looking forward to this trip very much.
Good day today. Met a bunch of good folks and scoped out all the vendors booths, raffle items, etc. A guy pulled up with a big load of highly colored, fiddlebacked, and tiger striped myrtlewood...had to jump on an unusually beautiful piece even before it made into the building! Right off the loading dock...haha
One bad thing that I noticed today...my vendor table is surrounded by great looking bows! Stalker is to right, Allen Boice's Liberty Bows is next to mine, Robertson's, Palmer's are to the left, and, of course, Blacktail Bows....I'm in big trouble!
Very nice trip up the Gorge to Ted's museum...Beautiful bows, arrows and historical traditional archery pieces. Could have listened for hours :campfire:
Good to meet you all.
*******Please re-size pix, thanx********
Brad
Cool pic at Raptor's.
David, please take few pics of those booths and yours too.I really miss this gathering,I was hoping to being able to join this one! :banghead:
It was a great experience! Not your typical bow shop!
Brad
Great visiting with you guys yesterday , looks like more today and Saturday and boy , the suns out here in Hood River for a change!
You guys have fun and enjoy all the displays , check out Bob Burtons booth and all the Hill memorabilia that is his and Craig Eakins on display.
Nice of Craig to let Bob show off some of the items in his collection.
What a great afternoon seeing all the incredibly cool stuff. Seminars were great as usual.
The honor was all mine when I met the Wensels. True gentlemen that "get it". Had to buy a couple books and a video.

Stalker bows were looking good.

Lots of great looking Allen Boice Liberty Bows.

How's this for "stone art"?!
David, I snuck you into the first picture. :saywhat: Didn't catch your gorgeous arrows though. Tomorrow?
Brad
For those wanting more pictures from the banquet... I suggest visiting probowsociety.net ( the PBS Web Site ) under the Post "E-banquet" in the current topics section or also in the "Cyber Campfire" section, you will find 2+ pages of pics I have taken since it started on Thursady..
I'll get up more after taking them tomorrow during the day and at the Banquet and Auction tomorrow evening [late].
Gene Carroll
At least from Wisconsin, as of now, 3/24 - 2 pm CST, the PBS website is down.
Hopefully, it is routine maintenance, 'cuz I am guessing most of those who administer the site are probably in Portland!
Thanks for all of your hard work Gene, we appreciate it out here.
Thank you for keeping us up to date Gene. We all appreciate it.
I thought it was just me....the PBS site has been down all day
Thanks for the pics guys! For those of us who weren't able to attend, it's nice to see what's going on there this weekend. Much appreciated.
Some of that Myrtle looks killer! I would have loved to had a chance at some of it. Anyone know who brought it?
I've also been trying to bring up the PBS site with no luck all day.
The extra traffic this weekend must have crashed it? Hopefully they'll get it rebooted and back on line soon.
Brandon, there were several people buying the myrtlewood including some bowyers like Blacktail, Stalker, and Robertson. I got a great piece that has some good dark streaks and is fiddlebacked.
Yeah, the site is down. Probably be up soon.
Well the site is still down, how was the turn out, where will be the next one.any more pictures.
The banquet, and the entire gathering was FANTASTIC!
Gene Carroll has done yeoman's work on the ground here. It was so nice to visit with the "western" guys like Walt Francis, David Lawson, and Doug Borland. I had the EXTREME honor of dining last night with a few more western gentlemen; Lon Scott, Daniel Russell, and Ben Pinney, his wife Amy and baby Brooks! PBS family is wonderful
Someday I hope.
I live a ways off the main trails... and like others, time is a little short this year and money even shorter, LOL!
Snag,
Who supplied the myrtle? Any contact info?
Thanks
I just heard it was announced last night that the 2014 PBS Banquet will be in Cincinnatti.

I spent some time with Irwin talking about his wood. He can accompany most any needs concerning myrtle wood.
Cincinnati ? I can make it to Cincy. Woho ! :jumper:
Much appreciated Cliff! Thank you.

We heard that yesterday as well 5 hours away We will be there
It's on my calendar! Mar 20-23, I assume?
Sounds like great fun. Next time around I'll be retired & present. Anxiously waiting for more pictures.
OH Snag,
That myrtle doesn't have to be all for the bowyers. One hunk would sure make up quite a few knife handles. Contact info would be appreciated...tippit
BRANDON that was a sweet bow you donated! I loved it! I went to 700 on it and then the guy I was sitting with "don" bought it. I also took that blacktail bow up there. What a great bow you made! I was trying to add it to my collection!
I bought a bow from south! Hell of a nice guy and makes some wicked bows! WOW! I bought the bow from him and he was off to the races to get more chunks of the wood and he boosted his bid on that wood in the silent auction. That chunk was a beauty!
What a great time with some great people. A lot of money was raised for the group and it was a great time!
I also scored the amazing deal on that green action wood bow from greg. It won the amature recurve class as well. Heck of a bow.
I called and passed the site situation on to the power's that be.
They are aware of it but nothing they can do until returning home.
Sorry, Gene
In the mien time, here is a couple pictures of my now "priceless" Tall Tines.... This baby is definitely at my home to stay...
I got to spend some quality time talking with these 3 gentlemen and think of this as a great reminder of 3 of the best days and nights I have ever spent with about 200+ of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet and spend time with.
I love the PBS !

A beautiful 50th Anniversary knife made and donated by Chad Sivertsen now resides in my growing collection fine knives.

Here is an example of the quality wares made available to those in attendance in Portland for the 50th..
I bought this from our own Tim Roberts of Farwest Leather fame. Actually from his wife ;) as she is way easier on the eyes

My state club the "Traditional Bowhunters of Washington" was well represented at the banquet by Dale, Lon, Tom, Jerry, Kevin Morgan, and I'm sure some I missed who also took a turn at the booth...
I have to appoligize for not jumping in. However Jim Akenson the BPS vice pres. and member in charge of the banbuet along with Steve Hohenesee kept me pretty busy with running errands, tagging and pulling winning ticket Numbers of the huge amount of donations that went in the "General Raffle"..
One other thing I need to apologize for is this terrible picture, but it's the only one of our table I found in my camera tonight.
BTW, this picture was re-sized like the others before posting  I'm not sure why its still so big :banghead:
Gene

Thank you for taking us along with you Gene.
PBS site is up and running. Thanks, guys.

Cincinnati, should be March 27-30, 2014 (last full weekend in March).
Start making plans now cause we have already started planning!
Caught between 2 worlds...looking forward to 2014-Cincinnati and backward at 2012-Portland. My PBS enjoyment gauge is pegged. Steve, I'd like to publicly call you out for doing a great job on council at this banquet...for all your devotion to PBS. Thanks!
Looking forward to the 2014 banquet. It was sad that I could not make this years banquet. It seems like everyone had a tremendous time. I'll be working on things now to donate for the upcoming banquet. Thanks for taking us along with the pics.
David Sisamis
I know how you feel Kevin. I still can't believe all that was happening. How council pulled all those details together is just incredible. Thanks to all that had a hand in putting this awesome event on.
My family and I are making a vacation out of the Gathering and taking in the state of California from top to bottom this week. We spent Tuesday among the giant Redwoods and I felt like I never left Portland...what a great group of bowhunters and gentlemen; all those present AND there in spirit!

I had a great time at the PBS. Next time- Ohio! Mike
It was great to see all of my PBS brothers and sisters in Portland, but there were plenty that were not on hand that were missed-
Me and my family didn't roll back into our driveway until 2:30 AM on Thursday morning-We made a family vacation of it-
The banquet was great as usual and I agree with Kevin-Steve H and the rest of the council deserve a public THANK YOU for all of us-
P.J.
This was my first PBS banquet and the good Lord willing, it certainly won't be the last. Thanks to the council and the volunteers who made it happen. It was great to meet some truly wonderful folks. This is an organization I can get behind. This is bowhunting and brotherhood.
It was great meeting you as well Bobby---
