Title: 145gr bludgeon
Post by: Bear Heart on March 10, 2012, 04:26:00 PM
I am down to my last 145 grain bludgeon.  At least I beleave it to be one.  I looks like the saunders bludgeons that are 125 grain and below.  It is just a little longer.  The 145 grain ones showing on all the websites I have checked are a wider faced cone without the little points.
Does anyone now where to get the old ones.  Is mine a different brand look alike?

I have had the same question for over a year now! I did a fair amount of searching, but could not find the older style either.

I'm pretty sure saunders replaced those with the new big conical ones. Yeah, I like the old ones better, too. Still have a few. I used to buy them in ********* Archery (at the store itself), but I'd guess that they were leftovers from the old style. The Saunders site shows only the big cones.

Thanks to some really good hot melt glue and thick steel washers, my htms are 160 grains.

Crow,
Are the ones @ Bowhunters Supply the old style bludgeon or the new wider style?
Thanks.
Kevin

Kevin, I would say they are thewide ones or the new ones. I dropped weight and now use the 125grs.,however a friend uses the 145's and they look different(wider) than the ones I gave him. You can check them out on their site  www.bowhuntersuperstore.com (http://www.bowhuntersuperstore.com)

This is one of the cases of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"  I love the old ones but can only find one.  Any leads on a shop still hoarding the old ones would be great. Thanks.

Have done some thinking on the original post in this thread and I recalled what I had done to obtain a "custom" weight on my blunts a few years ago. I started with a steel blunt of the appropriate weight and then added a slip on 65 grain rubber blunt. I say "appropriate weight" for the steel blunt because its weight depended on the finished weight I was trying to achieve once the rubber blunt was added. For example, if I was looking to end up with a 190 grain head I used a 125 grain steel blunt and when I added the 65 grain rubber blunt it ended up at 190 total point weight. It usually took a little WD-40 to get the rubber blunt to slide all the way over the steel blunt. Once in place I've never had one move.
Hope this helps.
