If you are looking at a fatigue type cap, check out Big Jim's. Wire in the brim makes it where you can adjust it for string clearance.

If you are talking about a felt "hat" as opposed to a cap, I suggest buying the hat you like and trim the brim to the size you prefer. That is what I have been doing for years. The hat I am wearing in my avatar started life as a wide brimmed western style.

Anyone have pictures of the different camo's of the original coups cap? The website has a couple pictures but I'm not sure which Is which. The ones I want to see are Woodland camo and Hunter green.

Big Jim's hat is a nice one and short brimmed with a wire in it. I had one but it is so well-camoflauged...I lost it last summer before I even was able to hunt with it.

I like my hats from TwoTracks and Stalker recurves. Different companies, same short, bendable brim.

Go to Lowes and buy the very best off set tin snips they have either right or left hand depending on you. You then have a lifetime supply of all the short bill hats with any saying reading camo etc that you could ever hope for! It's completely adjustable to the length of the bill and trust me here's the funny thing, little frays of thread hanging down from your bill are now IN FASHION. Some folks pay more for that! lol lol lol

During the winter months I wear my "Stormy Kromer". I love that hat.     Hell, I have it on right now. The rest of the year I wear a boonie or leather brush hat.

Bill, is there a secret or technique for cutting the brim of a felt hat. I have one I like but have resisted buying others as the brim is about an inch too big.

Do I just trace like 1" in and cut with scissors or what?

frankwright,

I decide what size brim I want, then measure in from the outer edge of the brim and marking where the intended cut will be, usually about every couple inches or so. Then using a heavy set of scissors or shears, cut from mark to mark.
