Breathtaking! Mind-numbing! Speechless! Awe-struck!
I can't decide which word applies...they all do for this bow. Definitely one of the top bows we'll see here in 2012, and far beyond mere words. Really good bow Dave...I mean it!
Yornoc...been watchin your posts on the thought process on this Tip and WOW did it come out looking sweet.....if it shoots 1/2 as good as it looks.....
Dave, that is gorgeous. Your cocobolo riser is unbelievable.
Can I ask you to take more pics of those yew veneers on the belly? I love figured yew !!
Absolutely beautiful bow Dave! The best part is, IT'S A SILVERTIP! So I know it's going to be a sweet shooter. Seriously though, one of the best looking bows I've ever seen. :notworthy: :campfire:
Wow that is some great looking lumber.
We know how it is going to shoot. It is a Silvertip :notworthy:
It must be pure torture to have a new bow of such beauty, and not be able to shoot it. I hope you heal soon. At least it is a piece of art to admire as you heal.
I love Silvertips, but most are very bland in appearance to say the least. This is one of two of the finest ones i have seen. Congrats David sweet Tip!
what a great looking bow silver tips are the best of the best I love mine! If that bow were mine I would sleep with it every night.Iam glad you were able to get yourself such a nice bow.NO MATTER WHAT TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY> good luck with your recovery ED.
Beautiful bow
Great looking bow David.
David, That is some awesome work very nice bow.
David, congrats on the new TIP it turned out AWESOME. Best of luck with your disk
That is a beautiful piece of work. Congrats!
Ask your doctor about an Inversion table. I've had herniated disks for years now and have avoided surgery using one of these things. Between acupuncture, and stretching things out when it gets bad, it's flat out incredible how much relief you get once you get the blood flowing in the right places. Kirk
It is amazing how far the craftmenship has come in the last 25 years. Some of these bowyers today are real artists. I just wish this kind of detail wasn't so darn expensive, but bowyers need to make a living like everyone else.
I'm usually not a big fan of "reddish" colored woods in my bows....but I tell ya what....that sucker's awesome!!!!
A real work of art :clapper:
David-that is one beautiful bow! Congratulations!
Good luck on your recovery!
Kenny :bigsmyl:

That is a great looking bow right there. Really cool looking!
WOW! for a lack of word's!
Beauty!
Jason
Many thanks everyone. As far as my back...no sweat. I've dealt with much worse, so I'll be fine in no time. I've got to shoot this thing right?
I wish I had the skill to make one. You guys are right, the bowyers of today are highly talented. I used to think the target bowyers of the 60's and early 70's were tops on craftmanship...but not anymore. These guys today are of an era that will go down in history.
I sat on that cocobolo for over 8 years, I'm really happy with it. I got the yew from Idahocurt here on tradgang, and a couple of extra figured bocote too, which I'll have done up later. The skins are from two wild caught okeetee corn snakes that only come from the Okeetee region of Florida. I have a lot of snake connections and finally had a guy catch a couple for me. I skinned and dried them and sent to Dave. I had Dave put them over clear yew to bring out the colors. I knew I was in no condition to skin them myself, so I let the master do this one. I'll get some better pics in a bit, the ones I took were kinda dark. I'm trying to build the antler bolts now, but going into my garage totally is killing me. So far I cleaned, and restained the antler to bring back its original color. Drilling and epoxying might be pushing it for now....but I'm gonna try!

Those are really gonna set that beauty off! Wow!
WOW!!! David this 'tip is out of this world !! Dave knocked this one right out of the Ball Park! Outstanding!! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:

That is fabulous.
Martin
Easily one of the Nicest Schafer Silvertips I have ever seen, and I have seen a ton of 'em... Hats off to Dave Windauer for such a fine piece of functional art..WOW
Whoa!!! That is one fine looking tip, congrats.
Stunning!!! :clapper:
TTT
Unbelievable. Cant wait for mine in a couple months. What are the specs of this beaut?? I didnt see it. Maybe I missed it. Is that a 17" riser? Did u finish the antler bolts?
Sweety of a bow!
That is the best looking riser that I have ever seen! I am not a snake skin guy, but nice work on skinning it.
Very nice. What a stunning and a beautiful bow.
That's a beautiful bow, prayers for a quick recovery with your back.
Very Classy! Nice job Dave!
Kris
Congrats on a beautiful bow! Awesome Coco and snake skins!
beautiful bow, hope you can shoot it soon-
Wow, it's a good thing I don't like snakes, because everything else on the bow makes me want one. Congratulations and get well soon so that it get's some work beyond looking pretty for all of Tradgang to OOH and AAH over.
Glad you are doing better and are probably back up to shooting shape with her. She's an American masterpiece.
Wow, this came out of the archives.
If you look back at the post, the last response before this year's was from March of 2012.
I have since healed and shoot it well. I have also got another set of limbs with highly figured bocote on the back, bright unstained actionwood on the belly and I'm just stretching some copperheads to put over that "popping" actionwood. It will realy bring out the copperhead colors.
I'll post some pics soon.
whoops, didn't even check the dates. Glad to hear you're enjoying it.
I said it back in March of 2012 and I'll say it again...
Fabulous bow, definitely one of the nicest I've seen and it had a big influence on the one-piece 'tip I have on order...
I brought it back up. Too beautiful to keep it buried. Specs? And I will ask again, did you finish the antler bolts? Looking forward to the limb pics.

Did finish the bolts but currently have a bronze set on it.
Possibly the only 66" Recurve by Dave.
Yew limbs 52# @ 28
bocote limbs are 45# @ 28 for super cold hunting.
I seize up when sitting in super cold and need a lighter bow.
I agree. I have a 56" 45@28 for cold mornings. Dave just refinished it for me and made some antler knobs for it. Killed a 5 point the first morning I hunted with it. Your knobs look great!
Well done! Beautiful bow
hah...that's just stupid. Easily the nicest bow I've ever seen.
