Well I did a search on adding weight to broadheads and only found answers for carbon and aluminum arrows. I am shooting a 29'' Cedar with a 125gr Zwickey. I want to add some weight up front. Any ideas?
You could get some "woodie weights" from 3 Rivers. They also have a jig to drill and put a weight in the front. Don
Get a heavier broadhead.
Im on a budget and picked up some zwickey's. And Don, how do woodie weights work?
Rob D did a picture follow along in a thread on using internal nail footings. Its a jig that you put on the arrow and drill a hole in the shaft and the add a6 or 8 penny nail and epoxy it in. It will strengthen the front of the arrow and adds 40+ grains depending on the nail used. This is it

Just saw the woodie weights and I think im going to get some. Im just worried about how strong the glue will be
I would use what ever glue you use for field points. I use hot melt on field points. Haven't used the woodie weights but a lot of people like them. Don
AZ have you tried a 160 grn head?
From what is on 3riversarchery they say you can get the 160s but only with inserts... Is there a such thing as to much weight up front? I was thinking a 225 gr. set up wouldn't be to bad
You can get a lot of different weights from other companies that are glue on, Whats your draw length? your arrows are 29" if your draws 28 and you add 225 you are going to have to change your shafts. With 160-190 grn heads you may be able to keep your shafts and make adjustments. 160-190grn will take any animal with the right placement.
Why would I have to change shafts? And I am shooting 50-55 spined port orford cedars at 28 inches
Whats the draw weight of the bow? If you add weight up front it will weaken the shaft. And snuffers, woodsman and Hills come in 160 gr glue on.
I did a "how to" on using woody weights here:

Hope this helps.
50# @ 28". Thanks a lot Steve!
If you put 225gn on your shafts they will be way to weak.
I shoot a 70# hill and my shafts are 85# and I shoot a 160 grn head, and 135GR on 80# shafts.
I use woody weights on all my hunting arrows. I have had good luck with them.
So just stick with 125gr heads?
You can get zwickey 4bld in 135gr, and if you have any 160 grn field points give them a try. If you dont have any 160's give me your addy and I can send you a few field points in 160grn.
