Title: Victory Vap arrows
Post by: Hippie Chris on March 02, 2012, 03:49:00 PM
I was wondering if anyone here has played around with these arrows. I'm trying to figure some stuff out about these before I purchase. I want the V3 350 w/43grn insert and 150grn point full length I'm trying to get them at least 460 grns. thinkin weight
tube but haven't seen the arrows personally. I'm shooting about 52-53#. Just thought these would be nice for 3-d.   :knothead:

HEY HIPPIE I have tried the VAPs in a 400 spine, there insert is poor quality and bends easy,  with the price of those inserts they must think they are made of gold [LOL]. Victory arrows run a little stiffer than most carbons i have tried. The victory HV3 shafts are 5/16 dia. and very durable, almost as light as the VAP and also cheaper. You can probably use the 400 spine with your set up easily. I was shooting a 30.5 in long 400 VAP or 400 HV3 with 250-300 grains out frt.I draw 29.5 in with a 55lbs carbon limbed bow. Hope this helps.

Personally utilize Victory HV 350's for 51 and 52# bows 1/8 past center. With 245 up front(460 gn), they fly nicely. This set-up shoots big snuffers quite well out past 20 yards. For fun I thought I would try some paper checks once I BH tuned the set-up. Shot 4 out of 5 bullet holes. The flyer was due to a weak release.

Found even better flight when spining the arrow out at 15#'s under and even better at ~28#'s under.

I'm shooting VAP 300's out of a 53#@30" Widow.  Full length shafts with there 90 gr stainless steel insert.  The aluminum inserts are junk and bend.  Also loaded up front with a 175 or 190 gr point and they fly like a lazer!  My total arrow weight is 550gr with 175gr head or 565 with the 190's.    They are gonna be some awesome hunting arrows no doubt!!!  I'm amazed at how thick the inner wall is and should be very durable.

Victory HV 300's with 300grs up front works well for me out of the ilf, 50 and 54lb recurve limbs. Have shot the 350's out of a 51# longbow with 325 up front. Both arrow set ups come in around 525grs if I remember right.

Not many dealers carry the 90gr stainless steel insert, so I ordered them directly from Victory. There expensive but it's the only way to go for durability. Also gives ya some killer FOC!!!
