Title: Davy Jones dies....almost an archer
Post by: jackdaw on March 01, 2012, 10:30:00 AM
Just saw on the news where Davy Jones , of the MONKEES fame, just passed away in Florida. Well he lived during the warmer months of the year right here in little old Beavertown, Pa. !! About a year ago I was out shooting a recurve in the yard behind my shop , when ol' Davy strolled by walking a young gal on one of his horses and spied my recurve and said.."I haven't seen a bow like that since I was a Lad"..!I said "well come give it a try Davy" , which he did, but the draw weight was a little too much for him...(51#).I told him to come back to the archery club when we had a shoot and we'd make sure there was a nice 35#er for him to flail away with, which he said he'd enjoy....unfortunately it never happened....at least I tried???? ...RIP...Davy.....Jackdaw

... very nice , it goes to show you how small a world we live in for you to have such a chance encounter with such a well known personality - and yet to relive something from his younger years through your generocity - thats awesome !

The Monkees  were a Sunday Morning Ritual before Church!  Tom & Jerry , then "Hey, Hey, We're the Monkees!!"  It is Sad to hear about his Passing.
Its Things like this that make One consider Ones  OWN  Mortality, I reckon. God Rest His Soul.
