Hi All,
My name is Inder and I am from Bangalore INDIA, currently on a short visit to fascinating state of Texas. Been into air guns since last few years and recently a dear friend (Who is a member here) introduced me to world of bow and arrows
Picked-up a 40# Samick Sage, 60# Bear Grizzly and already thinking of a custom bow from a very nice custom bow maker so looks like archery bug has bitten me hard :D
I am glad to be here and hope to make some good friends

Do I know you from somewhere? ;) :p
Welcome aboard.
Welcome from Brazil
Glad to have you with us.

Welcome, Inder!
I work with a lot of people from India, and wanted an Indian name. I didn't feel as triumphant as a "jeet", and have always been fond of "bir". I was told that bir meant brother, and at my age, I said that brother would be just fine. :D
India has a rich history of beautiful bows and deadly arrows.
Enjoy!!
Kathbir :goldtooth:
Good to see another archer join the sport of achery :clapper: Have fun and happy shooting :archer2:
WELCOME to the TRADGANG FAMILY!! :wavey: I agree, some of the Indian/Asiatic Bows are some of the Most Beautiful Pieces of Lethal Artwork on the Planet!! Glad to Have You with Us!! :campfire:
Thanks Guys,
I am already in love with the forum. Thanks for the warm welcome Don,Dean,jbat73- Nice Avatar
Danny Bows- Is that a Bama Bow in your Avatar?
Kentucky- Your state is becoming very famous in INDIA, not for the bows though but for fried chicken :D , Thanks to colonel Sanders, now we can taste flavors of your state.
Bjorn – Sadly there is very little or no hunting in INDIA, it is been officially banned since last three decades and sadly I do not see any chance of revival. PETA types have taken over the country and now a whole generation's mindset is anti-hunting, though recently government has started giving permits for Wild Boar and Neelgai but with loads of pre-conditions and bureaucratic hassles
Thanks Stujay, lpckohn2, jcar315,
Dodger – Yep that handle sound somewhat familiar :D thanks for introducing me to all these fine folks
Thanks Lincoln, TJK68,
Killdeer - "Jeet" means victory in HINDI and Punjabi . My full name is Inderjeet Singh and yes "Bir" means brother in northern part of INDIA from where I come from.
So thanks from this "Bir" for welcoming me to the " Bow Birhood"
Good hunting everyone.
-Inder

Welcome to TradGang !! Hope you enjoy your time in the States.
Glenn
Welcome!
Welcome Inder! Every journey starts with a step, and a little money!
Not to put alot of pressure on you, but maybe, just maybe, you can be a founder of a modern day revolution by introducing as many people in India to archery. With enough voices, you may be able to gain a voice to be heard! Just sayin'!
Enjoy the journey!
Hello inder from Mexico!
Welcome to the Family. I love this place and I'm sure you will love it too.
David
Welcome from the South!
Don't give up hope about bowhunting one day in India. As I recall,
an early Traditional Bowhunter had an article about archery in India. A prince was such as excellent shot that he put an arrow threw all 4 legs of a deer as it was leaping through the air.
I think the composite bows were used in ancient India.
Inder can you hunt with a bow in India, and can you shoot (practice) with a bow in India ?
I have an option to move to India for two or more years, but frankly, if I can't shoot my bow I really don't want to even consider it.
Too much a part of my life to put it on the shelf, even for an experience like that.
ChuckC
Great to have you with us and a big welcome from Utah. :wavey:
Chuck: There are no restrictions on shooting a bow in India. However, hunting (irrespective of the tool used) is very highly restricted and your chances of doing so are close to nil.
Which city would you be moving to?
Welcome from Virginia
Welcome from North Carolina!
Welcome Inder! Please make yourself at home!
Welcome to the fun
Thanks Guys,
Thanks for an awesome welcome,
Thanks Shakes.602- Our Mythology is full of Archery or Archery related incidents, in contemporary times Archery is more famous in northeastern INDIA then rest. Actually, it is a big business there and many people run their livelihood solely on this. Please Google "Teer in north eastern INDIA". It's nothing but a form of gambling but still its keeping the art alive.
Sadly apart from this and Olympic style shooting there is not much Archery happening in INDIA nowadays. Hunting is restricted and very few people know about 3D shoots etc, hopefully one day this will change.
Thanks Mudd, Zradix, EasyKeeper, maineac, rastaman, Lucas K, Wooddamon1, Coonbait, Shed Hunter
Bowslinger: Founder of the revolution is already here, he is the one who introduced me and many others to this fascinating sport. Last night one of our friends who already have #40 limbs asked me to pick up #25 Samick sage limbs because he want to work on his form so that tells me that we are moving in right direction.
Thanks Lozzano, South MS bowhunter, Beyondmyken, rdoggsilva, three finger, Rick Richard, Madness522, and JohnnyWayne
ChuckC: As Dodger said there are no restrictions on shooting a bow in INDIA, if you have a place to practice then you can fire away. Most of the big cities have Olympic style archery clubs (I am not sure about the membership procedures though) and small cities have enough open spaces where you can practice. Dodger already explained you about Hunting.
Once again thanks a lot everyone for this great welcome.
-Inder
Welcome Inder! Best of luck! Read about Fred Bear's hunts in India.
Welcome from the formerly great state of California.
welcome !!!!! :archer2:
Dodger
Mumbai would be the city. I have spent time in India in the past, but not in Mumbai. I have also not been there during monsoon. India is a very interesting place. I liked it just fine.
ChuckC
Welcome Inderjeet!!!
Teer is the only government sanctioned form of gambling. That's very interesting.
"Bow Birhood". Thats was pretty good.
:campfire:
Welcome Inder,
Two of my favorite things are shooting trad archery and eating curry.
Welcome Inder.
Welcome from Canada Eh!
Thanks Straitera, Raminshooter, T lail,
Chromebuck: Yep, Teer is gambling.
I have never seen bows made in that part of INDIA. Will ask some friend to pick up one for me.
Glad you like "Bow Birhood"
Raghorns: Curry is always been a favorite now trad archery too :)
Thanks Rainyday
Hunt it: Thanks you are so blessed to live in a beautiful country where you can enjoy the great outdoors. Thats the place where I want to move to, hopefully one day
Thanks once again everybody, it surely feels like home.

Inder,
Welcome from Wyoming. My son is planning to be in Bangelore this summer doing research on migratory butterflies. He is a trad archer. Maybe you two could get together.

Don't leave me out! :( :D
Tell your son to bring his bow and arras and if he likes fishing, so much the better. Hardest fighting fresh water fish in the world in our parts.
Inder's probably feeling shy to ask but if any Houston based members could take him under their wing for a month and show him the ropes or take him for a bit of 3D'ing, it would do his shooting a world of good.
Thanks.
Welcome, Inder! Enjoy your new addiction.
Thanks Bisch,
Kpete: Sure, just send me a mail about your son's plans, we will try our best to make him feel at home. We have a small goup of outdoor lovers under the captancy of Dodger. Just let us know.
GreyGoose: Any time sir!! Whenever you are in our side of pond, just give us a shout and this is for everybody on the forum.
Thanks V-Archer, 3Under
GRAYBEARD: Thanks Sir and I know i don't even have to try.

Hi Inder. Isn't traditional archery great! It opens a whole new world of friends. People at the shoots and festivals are so friendly. You have joined a great sport and a great group here at Tradgang.
