I know there was a huge thread a long time back that showed different seats members made....but for the life of me i cant find it!!! :knothead:
Thanks!
Lance
In the search feature, I put in "Torges Seat" and came up with quite a few threads on these.
Lance...my hunting buddy Bamboo built me a Torges seat with his new modifications. Wow...you can't ask for a more comfortable seat, easy to carry and setup in seconds.
Thanks Lon, that helped but....i would swear there was a huge thread where members showed what versions / modifications they did! But just from the ones i found (thanks again) i think i know what i am going to try
Thats awesome Joe! Any pics of the modifications he did?
You can PM Bamboo...I'll try to take some pics and PM you back.
Thanks Joe
I have a niftyseat i was going to use....ive only tried it here in the yard...but from what i have read on here if you sit on it in the woods for any length of time you have to have vice grips with you to get it unscrew again!!!
So i am going to make one of Deans seats to use.....i just wanted to see what changes people came up with that makes them better than the original version!
Lance
My biggest problem with the niffty seat is the seat portion is too small and my privates always go to sleep.
Lance, put some wax on the threads before going into the woods.
Lance, brought that thread to the top for you called the quest for the perfect ground blind seat or something like that.
I made a Torges seat then cut it half and put hinges on it. It folds up and can slide right in my pack.....works great. I did get a Waldrop for this year, but if I'm going deep I'll use the Torges.
Try Torges seats .. Who has the best design!
I believe you go to his website "Bowyers Edge" and look under articles. Look for the one "Tree seat Whitetails".

Ron;
Heard lots talking about cutting in half and using hinges but have never seen a picture of how its done. Would you have some pictures to share?
Thanks!
Kelly, gee I don't have pics, but the seat gets cut from the notch in back right down the middle to the front. Then with 2 hinges put it back together so when you sit on it the hinges work to keep it flat and not collapse, if it collapses turn it over and it won't. I hope that helps....[I know, not as good as a photo]!!
Here's mine. I use a different rope attachment.

Dean's a prince of men.
Stump killer,
Do you get any slippage with that configuration?
I made up four blanks from Deans article last week and put one together.
A couple of initial observations. Dean recommends poly rope. I had som 1/4 inch available and used that for the one I
Finished. Dean recommends 3/8ths. I had to double the knot on the adjusting side to make it hold. Also, poly stretches. Maybe it would get better after it stretches out.
Stump killers version looks like nylon rope. That probably won't
Stretch as much if it doesn't
Slip. I might try that.
I've
Got some garden hose to reinforce the tree contact side but haven't put it on yet. Trying to decide whether to add carpet.

Joe,
I really like the way you have made your Torges seat. The slot idea is very good, and it must be quick to set up. As I get older, I want to sit more while I am still hunting -- sort of a mix between still hunting and stopping to "set a spell" -- your seat design looks like what I need to make. Thanks for the photos.

Here's mine.

I added some spiked plates to keep it from slipping on the tree.
And hinged it.

That looks just like my folder........
I saw the thread yesterday morning, liked it, so I made 2 at lunch. I'll just leave them where I hunt. that way they are easy to grab and go.
I dont know why but I could look at pics of these seats all day.
I have been using 2" nylon strap, instead of the rope, and find it stretches less than any rope I have tried.....course I weigh about 280 after dinner... :goldtooth:
Thanks to all who have posted. Will be making a couple of these this week but before I do if anymore ideas please show them.
Thanks, Kelly
