Title: Gold Tip arrow set up?
Post by: Pettit877 on February 26, 2012, 04:30:00 PM
I'm shooting a standard zipper with a draw of 26.5". The bow is rated at 61#@27.5" i'm looking to make a hard hitting arrow hopefully using the gold tip traditionals. as of now i'm thinking a 29" arrow with 100grain brass inserts shooting 150grain heads or better.  Any suggestions from others would be great, i'm new to this and there are SO many choices.

thanks

Eric

Probably a 5575 (.400 spine), but I wouldn't cut to 29 inches right away, leave it full length and bareshaft tune. You can cut off as you tune.  A handful of field points ranging from 125-300 grains is invaluable when bareshaft tuning.

Just like Reaper said. I'm shooting full length GT5575s with 225 gr field point and 100 gr brass insert. So far I like this set up.
