Although I have never Hunted the American Buffalo/Bison, the topic and subject hold an interest to me. It is my favorite meat of all game when I have an opportunity to get it. I request any of you Tradganger's to share you journey and hunts for the American Buffalo/Bison. Thank you in advance.
This coming fall for me, Ive wanted one for a loooong time and like you, it is my favorite game meat.
Izzy where are you going?
Do a search Mark, there are some good threads mixed in here and there.
Will do, Thanks.
Not much in search engine here. Any of you Tradganger's like to share your journey and hunts for the American Buffalo/Bison. Appreciated.
Can you hunt them fair chase much? i mean im sure theres a lot of high fence opportunities (fine by me) but is there much choice in free ranging herds?
Bill Dunn (Zipper Bows) had a nice thread up on his buff/bison hunt last fall. I couldn't find it on search for some reason.

You can hunt free range bison in WY. You don't need a guide on this hunt, you can go DIY. When/if you get a bull down, there is a pack out service that is well worth hiring.
Wy apps deadline for bison is Feb 29. Only $20 to apply, if you do draw, the tag is $2500 :scared:
I don't know what it costs for Utah, AZ, or going to BC. $2500 may not be too bad. These Wyo bison are FREE range and P&Y will accept them in the book. They are really good eating!
Here is one I shot 2 yrs ago...was sold as a 60,000 ranch hunt but ended up being in a 200 acre pen. In the end it was a nice test for my bow and arrow set up and the meat was the BEST I have ever had!
