Title: Inadvertent Conversion/Shooting the Black Bear!
Post by: Wannabe1 on February 23, 2012, 07:01:00 PM
When my shoulder started acting up again last year, I dropped to a 40# Martin Dreamcatcher. I started shooting it real well and somehow, converted myself from longbows to recurves!       I still love the longbow but, I'm gonna romance these classics recurves for a while!    :D

Here's my '78 Bear Black Bear. 60", 45# @ 28". Fourth go around and after adjusting brace, I shot this and was tickled! First time shooting it since its arrival.

Ya know, for a Plain Jane, she sure shoots pretty darn good! Will make a great backup or stumper.

Ron, that '63 shoots amazingly fast! I have fooled with it and I'm now in a cunundrum over which to hunt with. The Griz or the Tigercat?    :bigsmyl:

I'm telling you, There's something about the Black Bears.  I love mine and is the smoothest, quietest bow I have.  If it was only a 45#.  Great collection you have there. Wanna trade for a 1968 Shakespeare super Necedah 55#?    Its Zebrawood

Wes, I was waiting for you come along!     :wavey:    And you are correct. This bow is a great little performer and I wouldn't hesitate to take it to the woods for deer.

Sorry but, gonna hang on to this one for a while.    :D

I don't blame ya, I figured it was worth a shot.     I shot mine the other day and man it shoots sweet.  I wish my Grizzly shot that good.

I'm hoping this weekend will clear up enough from the rain that is predicted, so that I can shoot it some more. Want to get some silencers on the string and tune the bow some more.

Mine got deadly silent after installing the Bow Hush and Hushpuppies.  Now I just make my own out of wool yarn, but I have to say, not as good as the Bow Hush/Hushpuppies.

I just put in an order yesterday for the Bowhush/Hush Puppies. They will be going on the Grizzly and the Black Bear. That stuff sure does some wonders on a bow!

Wish you lived closer, or vice versa! Be a thing to go after deer with the Black Bears and some shooting around the camp.

Yeah, Oregon is a long way from Gawgia. Hey, you never know, maybe one day. I can see it now, a double with the Black Bears.  If you ever get a wild hair to come to GA for hogs, deer, or turkey, you know who to call.  I would be happy to show you around.  :bigsmyl:

I have a 60", 50# @28 Black Bear.  It came in  a package deal of bows I bought from a guy getting out of archery.

All the other bows I bought in that package have gone down the road, but this one stayed and has become one of my favorites.

My son used it to shoot his first two archery deer.  So it will always have a place on my bow rack.

Wes, funny thing is, I've been to Georgia a few times. Spent 5 months at FT Gordon(Augusta) for training. Been down to Savannah for training and one other place I can't remember the name of. Like you stated, who knows!

CRS, that's a great story, especially your son getting his first two archery deer with it.

I'm only about an hour from Ft. Gordon,  heard it's a good place to hunt actually. I have a buddy that works on base for the NSA.

RC does a lot of hog hunting there. Wish I'd been more into archery back when I was down there. Would love to do some hog hunting.
