Title: Whats Your Tall TInes Setup ?
Post by: bkbk12 on February 23, 2012, 08:12:00 AM
I just recieved my new tall tines from brian Sat and have been trying to get everything setup arrows brace height etc. and was just wondering for you the have one whats your arrow specs brace height and weight etc. My bow is a 3 piece short riser with 60" limbs 52# at 28" thanks.I have been trying to tune at night when I get home so its dark but my bareshaft 5575 GT with 260 up front on a 29.25 " shaft seems pretty close.

Mine is 58" and same specs and likes a Carbon Express 150. I have 100 gr brass inserts with 150 grain tips and broadheads. They are a .487 spine and your GT's are .400. You may be a touch stiff although with the shelf cut on the TT where it is they shoot a wide  variety of shafts very well.

The 5575's are 9.3 gpi and the CE 150s are 10 gpi. I also like the extra weight in them. A great arrow for trad gear.

You'll probably get better flight with a 33-55 and about the same tip weight. That, or a .500 spine arrow of a different brand. I use FMJ 500's with 200-250 grains up front for both my TT #47 r/c or my TT #56 L/b.

TJ's setup of CX 150's would probably be right as they are slightly stiffer than other .500 series arrows being .487 like he says.

Best of luck...Ryan

I hunted w/ almost your same set up w/ mine, except I'm at 31" shafts w/ 250 up front.  I can get all the way up to 300 up front on the GT5575's and still get exc flight.
Mine is 60" 52# also.  I draw it about 29 ish...
I'm gonna try to retune it to longer shafts as when I draw broadheads back I contacte the shelf on this bow and have to shorten my draw......been saving up for new shafts.

I have shot CX150's ,but when tuning I always seem to end up lighter than I want for hunting.  I was able to get good flight w/ 175 up front.

I have a 60 inch, 54#  @ 28 Talltines that I draw to 29 1/4.  I am shooting 29 3/4 inch GT 3555s with 50 grain inserts and 200 grain VPAs or 29 3/4 inch 1918s with broadhead adapters and Wensel Woodsman.

Well I'll play the other side of the coin.  I have a 58" 56#@28 and a 60" 57#@28 both recurves.  I draw just a hair under 28".  Both of these bows I can shoot GT 5575 cut to 29" with 225 grains up front or full length 7595 with 225 up front.  Both of these arrows I have set up with 100 grain brass inserts and 125 grain points.

Both of these arrow setups fly perfect with or without feathers.  Matter of fact I have posted some of my highest scores ever in our winter league with these setups this year.

My Talltines longbow shoots a GT blem trads 75-95 full length with 250 gr up front. I draw to 29.5 inches. I always thought it was a bit stiff but bareshafting the stiffness is minimal. The arrow weighs in that 650 gr range which I love. It isn't a speed demons but the critters got no complaints  :)

mine is 60" and 49@28.  I draw about 28 1/2 and shoot Maxima Bluestreak 250 cut 29 1/2.  145 field point and a 50 grain weight behind the regular insert.  It shoots bullets through paper
