Title: Maps?
Post by: huntsmanlance on February 20, 2012, 01:59:00 AM
I am looking for some really detailed maps of the area i will be turkey hunting in. I have to stick to the public WMA and even though they have some pretty good ones on their site....I remember post awhile back about really, really detailed maps.

Thanks!

Lance

Lance - Are you looking for on-line maps?  Here is a link to the one I use, hope it helps.  Zoom in to where you want to go with the slide thing in the upper left, or type in a location on the bottom.  There are buttons in yhe upper right to select topo, hybrid, satellite, terrain and map views.

You can go to the state geological society for your state they will sell topo maps at a cheap price($5.00 in NJ) or use google maps or windows live local.

Have you tried Google Earth?  You can get some cool 3D images.

mytopo.com  You can select the area, topo or satelite or - my favorite - a combo, select the scale from 1:10,000 on up, and other handy options.  It's pretty nice.

MyTopo.com has gotten my business numerous times. You can custom build a map or an aerial photo to fit your needs.  I have one map that is built from portions of six individual USGS topo maps. In other words, I would have had to have purchased and carried 6 maps to see the area I wanted.  They are a deal and their service has always been quick and done right.
