Title: Sheepeater needs a name

Here is a new model Sheepeater Spirit dressed for the blind. Black glass back and belly, ebony riser, bamboo core, with buffalo horn tips, flat finish. I thought it could use a new name to identify the model, haven't come up with anything.

How about half-breed? Sorry  Brent I couldn't resists. Very impressive work as a bowyer but I don't like it compared to the original Sheepeater.

Man, I never expected to get so many choices. Great choices. Love the Black Sheep, huge Santana fan myself. Ferret, I believe we will be hunting in January. Better get in shape to run. I got a bad hook! Better since I been shooting carbon. Thought about the Reaper too V'ster. Black Mountain is a good call. It is actually in the Sheepeater's home range. I like Raven, but Checkmate uses that. Shadow something. Sheepeater Shadow. Great ideas. Hey Scott, I still make the original grip. Great idea on the cape buff knock off. Keep working on it guys I'm really enjoying your creativity.

How about "Sheepeater Eclipse" or just "Eclipse" or "Total Eclipse" or, something with Eclipse in it damn it.LOL.

If I wasnt so buisy at work I could think of a bunch more...gotta run.  I like some of the names a lot. Good luck.

Black Velvet gets my vote,too.
You can get Alanah Miles as the Sheepeaster poster girl. She sings a mean Black Velvet song.

Maybe I should wait till I shoot it at the ATBA Jamboree next month.

I am  SO  late getting to bed, and it's all your fault.  :saywhat:  
Here is how it happened.

I went to Powwow, saw the Sheepeater thread, tried to come up with a name, went back to the thread and read all the suggestions for the bow name, really liked "Eclipse", Googled Eclipse, saw that Hoyt has a compound called that, did some research on Sheepeater Indians, found a real neat book that was called "Mountain Spirit", all about these Shoshonean bands, put it on my Amazon wish list, thought of the name " Shapeshifter ," looked up shapeshifter, found all kinds of legends from all over the world, saw Tam Lin mentioned, looked it up because I remembered a Steeleye Span song, found the legend, then found the song, which jogged my memory about a little-known album put out in 1971 by Maddy Prior and Tim Hart called "Summer Solstice" , found it, and it then became the second entry in my Amazon wish list.

This machine is insidious!

I throw my vote in for "Obsidian" ....Sheepeater Obsidian, since that was likely the most used stone in their points, being common in the Yellowstone.

Brent, its early in the day for me but let me think. Because of the shades of black in your new bow maybe the word 'Shadow' should be in there. Perhaps 'Shadow Eclipse.'

This has been such a great time ladies and gents, but like all things, it must come to an end, or better yet.....a beginning. You guys did not make this an easy task as all the offerings were exceptional. Vermonster13 was the first to offer Obsidian. Congratulations V'ster. I would like to present the Sheepeater Spirit 'Obsidian'. Wow. I didn't thank it was going to be that hard! Thank you all for sharing.

I like the choice of the name, it really fits the bow and the environment.

Jeff,
I agree, dark wolf is a nice name.  However, anything with wolf in its name imediately divdes the western population.  The name would not be popular with most of Brent's potential customer base out here in the west.
