It's always been a struggle finding carbon arrows that are spined light enough to perform out of 30lbs bows. My wife and daughter have been shooting Jazz 1716 shafts but 3d shoots and shooting at a soccer ball around the yard takes toll on them and most often I'm having to straighten them after each outing.
After some searches here on the pow wow I stopped by the local archery shop and picked up a few Carbon Express Predator II 800's. Wow! What a great arrow. They come with an outsert which I personally found top quality, providing the ability to change tip weights. The 800's fly perfect out of both my wife's and daughters 30lb Bear bows. Neither one of these bows are center shot, so the lighter spined 800's are definitely the ticket! They also make a 700 which is the next step up in spine and would probably have been our choice if their bows where cut past center.
It's so nice to be able to find quality arrows that are also durable!

Yep they are a dandy arrow. We have some in .600 and .700 for use on demo bows that are light weight.

Tim, how long is your wifes draw? Mine has a 27" draw and I am looking for some carbons for her 32#@28 bow. Not sure if she would need the 700 or 800.

I'd say 800's. That was you can keep trimming them until they tune. I think you would have to leave the 700's full length.
My daughter is shooting an old howatt 62" recurve and she draws 28" and we had to leave the 800's full length. She is shooting off a weather rest and has 100 grain tips and a 14 strand endless loop Dacron string.
The 800's left full length were stiff out of my wife's 30 lb 60" bear minuteman. She draws 27 inches. Hope that helps provide some direction.

I really like the outsert idea, I have some light carbon shafts now but they have glue in points, kind of hard to tune those.

Tim, what do you think. Kim is shooting 25#@24" Do you think the 800's would have to be kept full length. She also shoots the Jazz 1716. Would be nice to get her something that is not going to bend.

Both Amy and Cathy get perfect flight with a 29" jazz 1716 and a 100 grain tip. To get the same flight we had to leave the 800 at 30" and use a 100 grain tip. They both gap shoot and prefer the longer arrow.
I think the 800 would work just fine for Kim but I don't think you'll be able to cut it that short.
I just reread my post and changed it. I thought I would have to keep them full length. Did you get them up in the Amish Country? If so I might take a ride up there on Mon. Kim gets perfect flight from the Jazz 1716 cut at 26" with a 100gr tip out of her Hummingbird.

We have had the 700's and 800's for a couple of years now and have enjoyed great success in tuneing arrows for lighter bows. They have been a great addition.

Another carbon for the wee folks is the Beman Flash. These spine from 570 down to 1400.
What is your opinion on hunting with these shafts? I have been looking into doing a carbon switch. I like a shorter arrow so I have stayed away from carbon so far. I shoot anything from 35-45@23" depending on the bow. With my short draw I like more weight up front to bring up my foc. I hunt with a 200 grain bh right now.

What size do you think for 38-40#@23" shooting 200 grains up front?
Katie, definitely an .800 unless you intend to leave them much longer than your draw length. Even with an .800 I'd suggest you start long and cut slowly, once it's gone you can't put it back! :D
When I read the title of the post I planned on recommending this arrow. Sounds like you already found it. It really is a great light spined carbon arrow.
They really are a great lite shaft ... I got some for the 30# selfbow I built my wife and they work perfect!! I've got a dozen 700 and the same in 800 her bow works better with the 800's....
