This is a repeat of a contest that we held a year or so ago. I had a lot of fun, we got some great photos, and someone got an opportunity to show their photos and win a prize. Judges haven't yet been decided but you can bet they'll be the cream of the crop. There will be several prizes as listed. The requirements are:
1) It has to show the EFA bow quiver prominently.
2) It has to be in good taste.
3) Preferably it's a hunting photo.
4) EFA has the right to use these photos.
Prizes are:
1) Choice of any EFA quiver we make.
2) An EFA armguard in choice of 3 colors.
3) An EFA tab with cordovan or calfhair,
backing, palm pad, and O-ring. Available
in 3 under or split fingers.
Well, there you have it. We'll have the judges on board in a couple of days. There were some great photos last time and I'm looking forward to seeing them again. Thanks!
O.K. I will start.Bear Quest V.Kip

Great photos. Looks like someone had some great success this season. Only 24 hrs and we have terrific stuff on here already.
"Killdeer" will be one of the (3) judges for this event. She is a great photographer and may want to offer some hints to improve a photo. She helped judge the last contest. She's a great judge of prose and photography.

Great Pics! I have several myself but I don't do photobucket. Oh well. As a matter of fact, my buddy WRV is bringing me a couple more quivers and attachments this weekend. I am meeting him in Gettysburg.
Rob, looks like that buffler's got his horns on backards  .. :biglaugh:
Keith, how did you get WRV to personally deliver your quivers? We can't get much out of him down here. (Ha.) :jumper:
Ron, if that photo of Larry were to win, who should we send the prize to? :dunno:
You have to offer him free food and swap bows with him:) Love your quivers. Got my brother hooked on them too. He thinks the ones coming up are for him:) HaHa. You and Karen are great people. Thanks for a wonderful product. Hope to see you at Denton Hill again.

EFA Mini 3 arrow quiver, arrows by Kid stix...
Thanks Keith for the advice on WRV. Hope you guys have a good time at Gettysburg.
Remember, a good photo doesn't have to have a harvested animal. It can be any good hunting,3-D, back yard, or stumping scene containing a view of a EFA bow quiver. Thanks to those participating.
Good luck picking a winner here Don! d;^)
I don't have a photo to post, but just wanted to thank Don for allowing me to stop by his shop this past Saturday on very short notice.
Now, because of this post I made a two hour ride to see why I have heard so many good things about this product. With out being too winded, I think these quivers are by far the best that I have put on my bows (purchased two). They are solid on the bow with no movement, light in weight, no noise when shot and balances well with the bow.
Again, thanks Don for the hospitality and a great product!
I'll second that Rick....best quiver that I have ever used....QUALITY and made in the USA....keep up the good work Don....
NICE shots!
I am looking for clutterless shots, good exposure of the quiver, and dignity of any fallen game. Beyond that, technical skills are a plus, but the basics outlined at the outset are paramount.
Bring them on!
Killdeer

Killy, I see a couple of pretty good photos so far. Do you think that we have a winner yet.
Let's set a deadline for ending the contest of about March 15th. That gives enough time for someone to take a photo or two and have time to turn them in.
Don, if I say that yes, we have a winner, then we won't have any more cool pics being sent in. I see three that are gonna have me tearing out my hair deciding which I like best.
Beware the ides of March!
Killdeer
Dont touch that hair Killy, I'll help judge!
Pat Brennan (Pat B.) has agreed to be the third judge. The panel is now complete with Killdeer, Pat B. and myself (2fletch).
We will vote right after the contest ends on March 15. The 1st place winner will get their choice of any EFA bow quiver (this includes any size 3-6 arrow, with or without totem feature, with or without wing feature, and in either limb wrap, limb bolt, or side mount attatchment.) Second place will get an EFA armguard, and third place will get their choice of our calfhair or cordovan tabs.
There's still plenty of time to take that photo and submit it. I know of one guy who has a great photo if he ever figures out photobucket.
Thanks for your participation.
:archer2:
Sounds like you selected excellent judges for this photo display.....can't wait to see the rest of the entry's.
Like I said before Don, its gonna be difficult to choose a winner. Good thing we have Killy's critical, artistic eye to help out. I see some pretty cool shots already.
Oh, I'm critical alright. Just ask my husband.
Killdeer :biglaugh:
Here's one:

EFA is the best quiver available for a longbow as far as I'm concerned.

We are all packed up and ready to head for the Pre Spring Fling in Alabama. Will be away from this site for about 5 days. Can't help but wonder what other great photos will be on here when I return. :clapper: :archer2:
Wish I were having a fling this weekend, but I am afraid that I am going to be stuck doing housework.
Wanna trade?
Killdeer :banghead:
My bows wear EFA quivers or nothing at all.

Great offer again Don. I was a lucky winner the first time around, love your quivers.
Here's a few:

We just got back from the Pre Spring Fling in Alabama. It was a lot of fun and a lot of primitive suppliers to learn from. I'd never heard of swamp oak and sparkleberry arrow shafts. Pat B., do you know a guy by the name of Tony Bell? He's into primitive up to his eyeballs.
We had Byron Furgeson, Fred Asbell, and Rod Jenkens there also. Wouldn't that be a group to shoot with? I got a bow from Black Creek while I was there. It's a takedown Banshee and a purdy one. It's so purdy that I might not be able to shoot it.
Killy, I wish that I had known, maybe I would consider trading going there for housework. However, I'm really not very familiar with house work though (according to Karen).
Still time to photograph and post.
:archer2:
If I remember right, and I do, you picked up a Banshee last time you visited Mccalla! Do we have an addiction, have you had counceling?
Possum Head, It's not me. It's the guys who come into the shop. They see my latest Banshee and they have to shoot it, then they have to have it. This is my third one and I hope to keep it a little longer. I may have to put a photo on here when I get through unpacking. It wouldn't be for judging, just looking.
This is cool, nice pics! Here's one from a couple years ago...I'll have to look and see if I have more.

Getting tougher all the time. Your quivers have been everywhere, it seems.
Killdeer
Some great pics.and animals here for sure.Seems it'll be hard to choose a winner but it has helped me decide on a quiver for my sons' bow.A 5 arrow Chief it is! :archer2:
I have'nt taken any game, I'll just tug at Killdeers taste buds.

Don, I don't think I've heard of Tony Bell. Sparkleberry is a native holly. There are a few varieties of holly that make good arrows.
Killy, the Western scenery is hard to beat but the Eastern woodlands are also.
Lots of cool pics and great trophies.More pics sure won't make it any easier to choose a winner.
Pat, you NEED to meet Tony Bell. I bought a knife from him. He's kinda straight to the point, if you know what I mean.
NO FAIR!!!
:scared:
Killdeer :biglaugh:
David, that's very generous of you but I wouldn't feel right about it.I would buy a new one or yours perhaps but I can't take something for nothing. Thanks anyway bud!
I looked through the rest of my pics and couldn't find any that showed off the quiver so I got out in the yard and took these. I hope ya'll enjoy them. My dog Katie was being a bit camera shy and self concious, she's still carrying a little extra holiday weight.

David, that's a fine young man and the bow/quiver look good also. That first photo is also tempting.
str8jct, I like the idea of having the dog guarding the bow and quiver..., or is it the shed that's being guarded?
Pat B, I was told that the sparkleberry was in the blueberry family, but wasn't as tasty.
Kily, how would you clasify that first photo of David's? Is that still life photography?
I suppose you could call it a still life. I would call it fine living! I have stove envy. :o
The pics are getting better and better each day. I think I need to set up a gallery so that I can see them all in a bunch.
What a way to get a free screensaver! :biglaugh:
Killdeer
I could only find two.

Don(2fletch),thatsthe problem with common names. The sparkleberry I know is a holly and the blueberry cousin is called a farkleberry around here. I wonder what the botanical name is? I have used blueberry and farkle berry for arrows and they both worked pretty good.
Don(batman), do you know where he lives?
These pics are getting better and better...and a good dog improves them for sure! d;^)

I made my Zipper Quiver even better by adding the Talon Grip Conversion Kit available at Eagle's Flight Archery.

David, that's interesting.I like to see innovation. Bill (Zipper) works with some very pretty woods.
Last night one of our regular Tuesday night shooters (here at the shop) came in with a "hybrid" quiver using our EFA components with components from a competitor quiver. It was actually a very good looking quiver with some of the best features of both. We have been in the process (about 2-3 years now) of developing such a quiver. It's being tested and refined now and should be available in the next few months.

Seven more days to go. Killdeer and Pat B., I was just thinking,*^&%#, what if we had a tie for 1st place?
Flip a coin!
Or give away more stuff!
Well, you asked... :bigsmyl:
Killdeer
Hoser, thats just plain old sexy!
Killdeer, I think that you're right. In case of a tie for 1st place, both would be able to choose an EFA bow quiver of their choice.
This day is about done so now we only have 4 days left before picking a winner. It's still not to late to enter a photo.
:clapper: :archer2:
Two more days to go. Killdeer and Pat B., I'm ready to start my list. If we rate the top 5 using "5" as the best score then we can merge our individual ratings for the best total points.
Time's running out. Tomorrow is the last day to enter. Don't know about Killdeer and Pat B. but I have already started a list. This is going to be really tight. I have given one photo a "5" but there are a lot of "4"s.
Karen will kill me, but anyone who has submitted a photo and doesn't win will be entitled to a free cordovan split finger or 3 under tab. Just send me an email with your mailing address.

If you'll send them to me I'll merge them and send back to you to make sure we are in agreement. Right now I see at least one good "5" and maybe more. There are a lot of "4"s.

Thank you very much for the kind words about my kids Ray :notworthy:
Curt ,
That one with your daughter releasing the arrow at that stump is really cool! Well all your pics with both kids are a "5" if ya ask me...I'm so happy I'm not the judge but Killy better think hard before she casts her vote! Guru maybe you better send her a bribe ! :D

Wow,I'm impressed with many of these photos. I just went through all of them again to rate them. I found at least 25 photos that I would rate as excellent. I have finished my list now so let's see what Killdeer and Pat B. come up with.
Curt, that was a real treat there at the end. Those kids of yours are very special.
As soon as I get lunch, walk the dog and get the computer fired up, I will be checking my list and making some very difficult choices.
Killdeer :help:
I've been through all the photos and have come up with 12.
I rated only one of them a "5" and 15 of them at 4.5 or better. If you will rate the top 5 and send to me, then I'll total them with mine. If there's any problem then we talk more about it.
I'm going to watch a socoer match but will be back later.
I had almost 30 finalists. Took me 5 hours, due to computer glitches, to wade through them, make choices, and email them to Don.
Whew!
Killdeer
I don't have any bow quiver but this contest is cool

Shou,
Great pic's and make a mind wonder what the actual scene was like in the day of battle.
Well, it's time we should make a decision now. These photos were so good that it made the judging very difficult. Each of the 3 judges (Killdeer, Pat B., and me) rated what each of us thought were the best five photos. After 1st and 2nd place there was no consensus on any other photo. Obviously we will just list all of these photos as tying for 3rd place. They will each be awarded an armguard or tab.
So here they are:
1st place is Ron LaClair with Larry Myers and a nice buck. Great photography.
2nd place is Guru with Cade in the 1st photo with a bullfrog on his arrow.
3rd place are, Arrowest with a nice buck, Prairie Drifter with bow quiver and arrows, Robtatto with a Wildabeast, Guru with kids in the woods, David Spears still life with a fireplace, bow quiver, and a cool drink, House with bow and tackle on rocks in the high mountains, Kip with a nice bear, Fritz with a nice buck, and Guru with Cade and two nice pheasants.
So there it is. 1st and 2nd place get an EFA quiver of their choice. Those tied for 3rd get their choice of an armguard, or tab. I'll wait for you to send a pm or email with your address.
This was a lot more work for Killdeer and Pat B. then they probably expected. Let's let them know that you appreciated what they did.

flytiger, great photos. That's an awesome setting. I wonder also what it would have been like there in a time of war.

Kenny, you were in my file of finalists.
It's all Don's fault.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I was going to say the one of Cade and the frog with the wet shirt was going to be tough to beat.
kbetts, that was my #1 choice.
Lots of really great pics to go through but it just doesn't get boreing looking at pics like this.
Don. thanks for considering me to help Killdeer and yourself judge these pics. It was my pleasure.
Thanks to all involved
Tough job you guys had. All the pics were great, but I, too, really liked the one of Cade and the frog and Larry with a great buck. My pic was poor by comparison, but thanks for allowing me into the 3rd place tie! :bigsmyl: :notworthy:

Don't wait to claim your prize if you won. Several have made their claim. It was work to judge this event but it was also a lot of fun. :clapper: :archer2:
Thanks for having this !!! PM sent.
Thanks for the opportunity Don! I guess you need to bring a good selection to the CTA state shoot so I can just buy another EFA, you gonna be there?
This was a lot of fun, some nice pics too. Guru, you are a rich man!
Thanks Don for donating the prizes and to Killdeer and Pat for judging. Enjoyed all the photos. Gonna have to get me one of those snakeskin quivers, they are pretty sharp.
Don, sending you a PM.
Great pics everyone. Thanks for the contest Don!
There were so many good photos that you could find a lot of winners. It seemed almost unfair to have to pick. The photo of Larry Myers was outstanding. The lighting was very good, the background was good, and the harvest, bow, quiver, and hunter were all in sharp contrast and well positioned. Either some one got very lucky or knew a lot about photography.
Str8jct, what you said, "This was a lot of fun, some nice pics too. Guru, you are a rich man!"
is right on. Cade brought back lots of memories for many of us with that photo at the pond with the bullfrog on his target arrow. Takes me back to Providence, Ky where I did most of my shooting as a kid of about his age. It's the place from where I brought my best memories. I'm sure many of you still have memories from your childhood days.
Not everyone has claimed their prize. Don't wait to long.
Oh my, I was away for 4 days and forgot to check back on this one....Thank you so, so much!
Yes, I am a very "rich" man!
Don, I'll be in touch...thanx again :notworthy:
I know the contest is over, congrats to the winners, but thought this was a cool pic I took this morning.

Nice job with the judging. I wouldn't argue any of those.
Wow! Just got back in town from traveling and got a note from Ron to check the thread. Thanks Ron for submitting my photo. No photo without my Shrew and EF. They are both the best made. Picture was a great November day in SE KS. No professional set up here just me and my best friend Tony (huckbuck) behind the camera. Thanks Don & Karen for the opportunity. So many great pics.
Wow, good reminder...I need to get a hold of Don!
Curt, I hope to see Don in a few weeks at the CTA shoot, how 'bout I just pick you one out!!!!!
Curt great pics of your kids. What a blessing. Hey wondering what camo u are using in the pics.
Curt, they were great pics of the kids. You and the kids are very lucky to have each other. Your son with the frog on the end of an arrows reminds me of my childhood shooting frogs with a bow. Sometimes having to hurry to the arrow to keep the frog from coming off the fletched end of the arrow. Ahh, those were the days. Yes, and you'd better get up with me soon about that quiver.
Won't be long now Chris before the CTA shoot.
