My experience has been that tip protectors do not affect bow tuning at all.  I have tuned by bow and added the tip protectors several months later and no difference was felt or seen.

I only keep one on the lower limb tip, and cut it so it doesnt over the string. Never had any adverse effect with it.

No issues with them here, either. I know a couple guys that are meticulous tuners and very good archers, and they've never mentioned having a problem involving tip protectors.

I have had a problem.  I used a saunders plastic tip protector for years and loved them.  Until I bought a set of limbs with antler on them.  i used the protector on the bottom limb.  I was hunting in alot of rain and wet conditions.  One day the tip came off of the limb.  The antler was soft like rubber.  I never could get the same tip to stay on the bow.  i think that the constant water applied to the limb made the tip like a sponge and ruined the antler tip.  The tip never could dry out with the protector in place.  It was my fault for not taking the bow down and allowing the tip to dry out.  But put yourself in Alaska or Canada on a two week hunting trip.  Do you want your tip falling fall then?  I took both antler tips off and put Amazon Iron wood instead.

I make my own out of leather scraps.

No issues.

Just a bit of conversation. I have not seen an issue myself. Was just curious if others had.

No tuning issues, but I have one bow that shoots noticably quieter without a tip protector than with it.

No problem for me.  I currently use the black rubber on the bottom limb.  I've also used small leather protectors with not problems.

Wasn't there a link on here a few years back where someone had used one of the white rubber tip protectors, and the finish on the tip was worn and it delaminated from the moisture inside?

I don't think it would be noticeable but I have had two bowyers tell me it would affect the speed. I really have not seen any difference either way, with or without a tip protector.

No change

Take off after hunting in rain and let tip dry

No problems

I thought mine was affecting noise and accuracy on one of my recurves, so I took it off. I had never noticed a problem before.

None noticed and I have shot the same bow with and without the rubber protector on the bottom limb.

None here.  I cut them so they just barely cover the string groove keeping it in place.

The rubber ones will hold moisture and that can't be good. I put a leather one on a very quiet recurve and it wasn't quiet anymore, not being overly bright I then tried one on a longbow with the same results.

Mine doesn't... of course my tip protector is the toe of my boot.   ;)

Only issue I have experience on 2 of my recurves is a click as I get half way to full draw. It drove me nuts. I found it with both the leather protector and the softer plastic. I would always focus on the sound and it would effect my concentration. Took the protector off and no more click. I think its the way the string pulls up the protector. I might try cutting it as RM81 mentions so it only covers the tip.
