First off I want to appologize to all who participated(especially TJ) for taking so long. Computer crashed shortly after the first of the year and I have been scrambling to get back in the mix. Got a new one and arrows are finished. Congratulations TJ - please send me you address so I can get these into the mail for you ASAP!!

One lucky winner there. Congrats on the "BIG" kill.
Congratulations TJ!!
Those are an awesome prize!!
God bless,Mudd
Oh man those are beautiful deer stickers!!! No apologies needed.
Bobby wrote me asking what I would like a few weeks ago and I told him I haven't shot a wood arrow since I was a kid and had no idea. I gave him my specs and told him my lucky fletch color was red and he has hit a home run with those. Who knows if I get lucky enough to run one of them through a deer this fall Bobby's very generous offer may set me off on a new path in my Trad journey.
Bobby, can you tell me what kind of wood they are?
Thanks for the congrats guys I really appreciate it.
TJ

Wow! Nice looking arrows! Man, that is one huge doe you got there TJ! Nice job!
My PM to TJ -
"Tom - no worries - it is only like 5$ to ship so not worth the trouble. It is my pleasure to hopefully provide a decent set of arrows that you can utilize for hunting or at least target and stump shooting.
Because you said you have not shot wood in the past I took the liberty to cut them to length and taper the ends. You will need to order some field tips(if that is what you plan to use) in a weight that you prefer. May need to experiment with the tips(weight) to get perfect flight?? I also taped a stick of hot melt glue inside one end of the box. Look for it. It is the cheap stuff that is used with the "hobby" glue guns but I have found it to out perform the "arrow making" stuff you can buy because it seems to remain a little more flexible when it gets real cold out like we get here in Michigan. I use a propane torch and heat the glue a bit and dab some on the arrow taper. Then, with pliers, heat the tip for a few seconds and press onto the shaft with a little twist. Running it under cold water sets it real quick or just stand the arrow on end until it cools. Less is best or it goops out and looks ugly. This may all be stuff you already know so just do your thing if you have experience with the glue.
As far as the arrows, they are POC and I was fortunate enough to buy out an old archery shop that closed down here in Michigan back in the early 80's. The shafts are the OLD old growth POC and some of the best I have ever shot. My crester came from the same shop and is at least 60yrs old. Forgive the slight imperfections as it is the best quality my old equipment can produce and will not effect performance. My arrows are good, will perform with the best, but in no way compare to the looks of something like "Arrow Art" produces. I full dip, then crest and full dip again. This makes for a real nice finish and prevents the crest from wearing off on the arrow rest. I use water based poly. It looks and performs great but if you shoot it into solid targets like 3D Makenzies it can burn a little from friction. This is because it is not as hard a finish as oil based but much safer(non-toxic) to work with inside the house.
On a side note there is a very strong possibility that the late, great Fred Bear actually held some of the parts you now have. Most of the stuff that I bought was originally bought from Bear archery and I even have boxes with shipping labels from Bear Archery, Grayling, MI on them that this stuff came in. Not real important and there is no way to actually tell but still some fun trivia regarding the arrows.
I will get them in the mail - Priority USPS tomorrow and you should have them by the weekend. I hope you enjoy shooting them as much as I do making them and know that many of the arrows out of this stash have taken deer and other critters by myself and others on the Leather Wall. If you are so fortunate to take a deer with them please send me a photo.

CONGRATS TJ !! What a very Cool Thing to Do Bobby!!
Hey all - we did this last year and again this year so hopefully take another run at it next fall. keep it in mind. As always, my goal, if you read the original contest thread, is to pay repect to the gals out there and get more photos of them on the wall. In Michigan, and many states, there is a propensity to down play the taking of a doe or not say anything at all. I say, "Boohoo" to that and would like to hear all the doe stories and see the pics.
On a side note I have discovered(unscientifically) that a 150lb+ field dressed doe is more rare than a 150" buck - way more in most cases!! Take pride in that swamp donkey and get involved with the doe challenge next season and if you are fortunate enough to live in a state with liberal doe tags, get inolved more than once!
Congrats again, TJ - that is one fine gal and you should be proud!
Beautiful arrows! Well Done TJ and Bobby. :clapper:
Well done to both of you!! :clapper: :clapper:
Congratulations on both the doe and those outstanding looking arrows.
Very nice looking!I miss shooting wood.
Congrats on that huge doe TJ. A lot of good eating there! Beautiful arrows!
did that horse have a saddel on it when you shot it.
Congrats TJ. Not only did you hit the the jack pot with that doe but those are some beautiful arrows to boot! Nice going..
Way to go Tom!
I knew you would win this as soon as I saw that doe.
:clapper:
Thanks guys and thanks for posting the pic Mikey.
Ok I am a woody rookie so what weight heads do you guys think I'll need for my 50-52 lb bows?
Beautiful animal and arrows,congrats.
Leland
Holy cow TJ! I've never even heard of a white-tail doe weighing that much. That's nearly 214# live weight (+40%) depending upon how empty the doe was when weighed.
I'm thinking you were using one of those magnum broadheads that weigh more than a truck bumper (for penetration don't you know) and it got stuck on a shoulder inside? :notworthy:
Congrats!
Well done!
:clapper:
Congrats TJ!!!
congratts! again on the xxl doe, and hope to see some blood on your new arrows this fall. COOL!
Congrats TJ!!!!
Bisch
That's a huge doe, congrats to you TJ.
Very nice TJ. Congrats on the jughead.
Congrats TJ, on a great doe(read small horse) and a great looking set of arrows!!
No doubt that thing is a horse in deer hide. Congrats TJ.
Bobby, those arrows look fantastic. Thanks for holding the contest.
Dan
Congrats TJ, she sure was a big ol gal!

Bowwild, how the heck do you figure 60#'s of guts bud?
Congratulations Tj. That's one big doe for sure.
Wow that's a beast, right-on Tj
Those are some super nice arrows! Way to shoot a pizza destroyer TJ! :notworthy: :notworthy:
Hey TJ congrads bud, will you tell us your set-up that you shot huge that Doe with.
Joe Van
I must have missed where it said how much she actually weighed, how much?
Joe, I was packing a 58" Zipper SXT 52@28 Recurve, CE 150 arrows and 150 grain VPA heads. She weighed 153 lbs.
Are you SURE that isn't your neighbor's horse? When was the last time you had your eyes checked?
In all seriousness, congrats! You will be eating well for quite a while.
Congrats TJ! She looks like a cow moose!
  for a good job.
Good job TJ that is a huge swamp donkey. Those new arrows will look nice next season stained with a little more red on them.

Nice gesture Bob and great doe from TJ-wow what a cow.
Very nice stickers Bobby and the doe is freezer filler for sure.
Hey Bobby,
You ended the contest too soon. I still have 2 days to take a deer in NJ before our season ends. Guess I can save it for next season.
Have to cut it off at some point but if you are fortunate enough to take a doe after J/1 just save the pic and stats and you can be first to post in the 2012 challenge!!
Edit: If it is BIGGER than TJ's you will be almost certain a dozen arrows - just have to wait a year!
I knew I shoulda sent in pictures of the 154 #'er I shot.
Daggone TJ....that's a hog of a doe man!!!!
Beautiful arrows Bobby! Congrats Tom :notworthy:
Bill
I guess Im gonna have to try some wood arras some day...them things are just purdy....
Those arras are purdy! TJ has a nice wool sweater too!
Great doe Tom! Biggest I've ever take was 138 lbs FD. That was 20 years ago, saw a buck fawn weigh in at 94 pounds fd then too.
Around here now adult does will all weigh about 100 pounds fd. Too many deer, and small ones are harder to hit!
