well, i got this savannah for christmas, after shooting an old 30# recurve, i am 14 and this is my first real trad bow, it is a savannah, 50# @28" and i am shooting legacy 2018s cut to 30" with 125gr points, got up this mornin strung my bow up, a set my target up and those were my first six arras for the day. :p
and i only shot one feather off, which was quickly repaired. i think i'll be ready by this fall's huntin season.

Good shooting, Shane!
Just as a sidebar note, you could consider finding a slightly lighter bow. A bow in the 40's will be more than enough for most game you'll encounter. Your bone structure is still growing and all the joints are at a fairly vulnerable state. I'm not trying to be a spoilsport and understand all your passion for archery. Believe me, I was there at your age. I did disregard all the advice from older shooters and kept shooting those heavy bows almost every day. As result, I have a bad shoulder on my bowarm and a creaky elbow joint on my right. And I'm only 37. I know, it feels like lightyears away for you but eventually you'll get here. The most I can pull now is around the 50# mark, anything more is too painful in the long run.
As said, just another opinion from an old fart.
All the best for your archery!

barking mad, i in no way want to disregaurd your opinion, but i think i will stick with the 50# bow, since i can shoot it easily. i went from a 60# compound to the 50# longbow, and i shoot both smoothly with no problems. but thanks :archer:
-
Shane,
my bad. I only read the bit about the 30# recurve...
Good shooting,

Great shooting.
And to add another compliment is you bow weight of 50# at 14 years old.
:notworthy:
Keep up the great shooting,..........
-
thanks everyone, and kingstaken, i suppose the reason i am able to shoot 50# easily is because i have been shooting some type of bow since i was about four, and i guess i am kinda big for my age, i am 6ft. and have a 29" draw.
-
Very nice ! Keep up the good work. P.S. those 2018s are DEADLY ! SHOOT EM STRAIGHT... >>>--------> RIVERWOLF
-
Yes! I'm not the only tall young guy with a long draw around here. Only thing is that you shoot better than I ever have :D  Keep at it man :)
