So I bought a new DB Matrix blind for turkey season this year. I like the new bags as they have shoulder straps and pockets for a chair and ground stakes. However my question is how do you carry all the extra gear(bow, arrows, calls, decoys, supplies for a long sit, extra)? I was debating on getting a larger Cat Quiver with pockets to carry the calls but that would make it hard to carry the blind.
I've seen some use rigged up golfcarts..I'll be watching this too :)
I use a RackPack chair that I strap the blind, decoys, etc too... as far as my calls, i carry them in a n old WW2 gas mask bag that I also strap to the RackPack...
Leaves me to carry my bow w/quiver in hand...

Jonathan any pics of your set up?
When I used to turkey chase, I would put the decoys in a duck decoy bag(mesh) and my seat folded up and went in the bag also. The calls went into my cargo pocket.
put it all in a mesh or cloth stash bag and strap it to the blind. Same with that quiver if you want it, just strap it on. Try it on for size before the am you are going out though. I had one rig that rode so low in the back (the DB) that my feet kept hitting it as I walked and I almost couldn't walk right.

Rack pack is the best I have found and if I do it right I can carry my bow and dog ware quiver on it all so on long packs in
GFA haversack and inflatable dekes. I also narrowed my call selection to a hoot tube and a few diaphrams.

Have tried just about everything...
Carried the RackPack all last Spring..Really like it..money well spent.
Blind Hog, one of the best investments I have made. I carry a recurve model DB, two chairs, calls, snacks, binos, camera, water, decoys, stakes and anything else my daughter and I think we will need for a long sit. I can ever strap a gun or bow to it as it has a pocket and strap system for that too, although, with my hands freed up, I usually keep my bow in my hand.

Don't use a blind, only wear a ghillie suit; nothing else compares; turkey will walk in mere feet and never spook; watch closely, DON'T MOVE, and draw only when tom turns his strutting tail to you; have killed several using this method;
:campfire:
I use the Magnus Rackpack.
Lot a love for the Rack Pack, I also argree. I have one and it's amazing. Just like some of the others have said, you can strap a lot of gear onto this thing. Also I bought a primos turkey vest, the elite I think, I took the seat off it, and took the decoys out of it, and can carry the rack pack just fine. God bless.
Eberlestock J107. I can haul a pop-up, decoys, and all the gear I need for miles in comfort.
I usually have the blind, chair, and decs in the blind bag and a Badlands Monster fanny pack for calls & lunch. Bow is in my hand with a bow quiver. With the older single strap blind bags, I can carry it slung so that it sits on top of the big fanny pack which takes some weight off the strap.
I have also just used a big a internal frame pack. Way easier on the shoulders.
I carry my blind and stools in the blind bag it came with. It has shoulder straps. Everything else I carry in my old turkey vest. I've tried backpacks, but always go back to my old vest. I know where everything is when I need to lay hold of it.
A game cart works great for hauling the gear in and the gear and turkey out. (Don't forget the turkey adds more weight and bulk!)

Well... I've been trying to get some pics for Steven, but everything keeps locking up... I'll keep trying...

I do like the looks of the Rack Pack chair. For those of you using it...Does it take some practice to get it packed correctly? How does it hold up (Durable)?
I did some research online and it looks like it has been discontinued by Magnus. I also saw a review that suggested getting a set of crutch feet from the drug store to replace the feet that com on the chair.
Any other suggestions on using the Rack Pack?
Mike,
It's a lot like anything... the more you do it the easier it becomes and you will... at least I do, find myself tweaking it all the time...
I've never had any issues with the feet... I've set up in pasture fields, forest duff, and in the Ohio River flood plain which had been under 15 foot of water the week before...
They were a bit steep... I was able to buy mine through a friend who owned an archery shop at the time that would sell me stuff at his cost...
Still messing with pics... don't know what's the problems...

The gas mask bag I use is about 13" long...
it's WW2 if I remember right...
it was my father's that he used from the time I was a little fellow...

You will find 10-12 different strikers, 4-5 pot calls,
a Primos slate that's long and narrow, a box call,
20+ diaphragm calls, hoot flute, crow call,
coyote/peacock screamer, Lohman's wing,
a multi call conditioner, decoy stakes,
blind stakes, gloves, mask, beanie...
Here's a pic of everything strapped on...
Blind, decoys, call bag on the RackPack... I don't carry the blind in its carry sack, but didn't want to pull it out again, as I just put it away from deer season, on Saturday... I just wrap it up tight by twisting the outside fabric... that way it allows a much quicker setup...

The thing I love about the RackPack is that it
allows me to carry all the junk like a frame backpack...
heavy shoulder straps, and hip belt which transfers the weight.
And then it transforms into a very comfortable seat...
In fact I have to work to stay awake on slow mornings...
Here's a pic of when everything comes together as planned...

Hope this helps...
Jonathan
Oh yeah... I forgot... I've also had a video camera and tripod straped on the RackPacks as well... got the kill of the above bird on film...
That was getting a bit heavy carrying the bird and all the junk...
sorry about the Pack pic... It's just not posting right... can't get it to trun correctly...
Jonathan
Blind Hog, lots of room and carries a nice load.
Turkey vest. Strap stand, seat, and dekes to a Dwight Shuh (actually made by Coleman) plastic pack frame.
Carry blind on pack with deqs. Ribz pack for calls, gloves, face mask, knives, extra tab and arm guard. Bow quiver on the longbow. The Ribz is just too convenient and I have used it for rabbit season this year and my yote call camera and all the extras are right where I need them. I hope that Tom comes by this year
Thx twigflicker...awesome
Steven
Ok where can I get a "rack pack"???
Rackpacks were redesigned last year and Magnus is expecting them to be back instock in April. Watch their website. They are going to cost $99 & S/H.
You're welcome Steven...
Wow... 99.00 that's what I gave cost for mine 3-4 years ago and that was at cost... not retail... I guess they are coming down...
I really like the two for one function...
