Dave recommends a 16 strand string so I made up a 12 strand D97 and padded the loops to 16 and my tip shoots well and is really quiet. I'm sure others with more experience than me will also chime in.

Jerry, I shot my Silvertip with one of my Lefties-R-Us 8 strand strings. I pad the loops to 16, no problems at all.   :bigsmyl:

I tried a SBD 6 strand on mine and did not like it. I felt a lot of vibration.

I'm shooting one of Allen's 8 strand strings and my Schafer shoots great.

I've shot my buddy's with 8strand SBD....I hate to admit it, but I shoot it as good as my Bear....the skinny string makes a lot of difference to me with that bow.

It seems most bows and most shooters really like smaller strand count strings.  I haven't found a bow yet that doesn't.

I shoot mine with an SBD 8 strand and I found the bow shoots a little faster and is quieter, which is a nice bonus.

My tip is in need of a new string. Where do you get the SBD strings and how are they on nock fit.

Thanks, Jason

Do yourself a favor and put a 8 strand SBD or some other maker on it you will love it. It turned my schafer into a completly different bow and wow what a speed increase it shot and felt soooo much better.    Widow

That's what I had on mine as well. Loved it.

had a 12 strand  D97 on mine as well as a SBD that was 8 or 10 i think. the best string for mine though was a TS-1 that was 10 or 12 strands. all the loops were padded to 16 or 18.

Allen made my strings for my FF Silvertips. They are quieter than my non-FF Silvertips.
