Title: Nocks for AD Trad carbons...?
Post by: Al Kidner on February 08, 2012, 04:20:00 AM
Hi all,

Well I have an itch to try me some AD Traditional tapered carbons after viewing some over the weekend. I am wanting to fletch them with orange barred fletching, cap wraps and of course orange nocks.

Seeing as I am all new to carbons as such, what brand of carbon style nock fits these shafts, and better still... do they make an orange nock?

Cheers,

ak.

You have a few options, if you want a push in nock Grizzly Stik nocks will fit the shafts.  You can use a glue in adapter which you can glue on a 5/16" nock, I have found that the one made for grizly stiks work the best.  Another option, is to use the adapter for AD shafts and cut a portion off, then you can use a Easton G-Nock or a Bohning F-Nock.  Hope this helps out.

AL, I use the Easton G-Nock with unibushing and they do come in orange. Glue the unibushing in and just push the nock in, it will be adjustable.

You can get G-bushings for them at 3Rivers or Easton ACC 3-28 uni-bushings will work to.I have G-bushings and G-nocks in all my AD's.

Mine come to me without the stock nocks....

I prefer the nock adapter and Z nocks....they are normal size knocks like what I grew up with and I like the feel and control I have with those nocks.

Some of the tiny nocks folks use today scare  the crap out of me as far as dry firing...I just can't get enough feel on those little ones to know its on the string.

Terry, the 9/32 glue-on Z nocks?

I use the unibushing with a "G" nock. I like it much better than the nocks that come with the shafts.

I can check on the uni bushings but I have plenty of AD standard nocks. Also have quite a few 100 grain brass inserts. A few customers used the uni bushings, nock adapters and 9/32 glue on nocks.

Used the standard nocks for 10 years, but switched to the Uni bushing and G nocks this year, and really, really like them.

Rather than glue them in as Danny does, I place a single thickness of plastic grocery bag over the end of the shaft, and push the Uni bushing into it.  Trim with a sharp knife, and it's done.  Makes for a nice, snug fit and is adjustable.

I think the grizzly stiks have the same dimensions as ADs.  I don't know if ABS sells orange nocks for their gizzly sticks.

Hi Eric,

I'm obviously not Terry, but the 9/32" Z nocks are what the Three Rivers website is recommending...fwiw.
