I really have a taste for a more primitive bow along the lines of Dryad Bushwackers. Other than them who is still making them commercially on a regular basis. Ive shot a Dryad and loved it, it shot as good as any glass bow Ive ever shot.
I recently discovered JD Jones which looks like hes no longer making bows.
If I could just talk John into making me a naturally backed Griffin id be delighted but no such luck.
Anyone else?
Can't beat the Dryad's, I have been shooting a Bushwacker for a few years now..... Terry
Saluki makes a bamboo backed lamintated bow with no glass. Its called the Grandeur Longbow
Bows of Wood was one of the 1st to make available a Bamboo backed all wood/grass bow commercially. It was called the Cane Dragon. He made that in a Mild reflex deflex longbow and also a recurve.Thier really well made and shoot sweet.
Javaman made a few models. The Sweet Grass was a nice longbow and the Duoflex Recurve was also a great no glass bow with bamboo backing. His Assyrian was very cool with static tips.Mine were all bamboo backed with various woods for the core and belly.
James Parker makes one as well and Torques.
Those J.D jones are sweet looking bows that you mentioned.
Izzy sent ya PM
Raptor will make you one and so will John Strunk and Dryad.

Make your own........KAT has done it ,I have done it, no reason you can't!! :readit: I have seen the Quiver you made ,so I know your not all thumbs....lol! :biglaugh: Seriously ,it might take a couple of attempts but give it a go!
Izzy, check out Pine Hollow a sponsor here, he has kits at a fair price that you can build your own!
Try Jim Rempp. Hell of a nice guy and a master at wood bows. He lives in Missoula. MT 406-728-2140.
KT
I would get one that is backed with sometype of material. IMO. Backing is just a good idea for the logevity of the bow. Backed bows will typically last longer. Be that rawhide, snakes, glass.
Well, lets see some Pine Hollow kit pics. Sounds like it might be the deal.
Ill need to get it done soon, busy times are coming for after school baseball, fishing and everything else.
Love to see a few pics for ideas.
Izzy, Mike's kits at Pine Hollow are TOP notch. You can't go wrong dealing with him. Give him a call. I think his number is on the website. I saw them at Kazoo but I'm not sure I took any pics.
i have a cane dragon made by vinson minor, good shooter,i don't think he is making them anymore,he is related to james parker, who is still making boo backed bows.
I bought a bamboo backed, bamboo belly ipe core bow blank from Mike Yancey and wrote an article about finishing it out for the fall issue of TradArchers' World magazine. The bow is a real delight to shoot. Very smoooooooooth.
Here are a couple of pix of the bow.

Move this over to the Bowyers bench and you will get a lot of response.
David Knight (www.primalneedarchery.com)
Our own Robtattoo got one...will have to search to find the thread on it. He had some great things to say about it....including the fact that it was pretty dang fast.
Hey Izzy,I agree with Ron W.you could make one yourself.I have made 4 or 5 BBO bows and they turned out great.Plenty of kits out there for not too much money.Plenty of info on this site to help with any issues. The bowyers bench is awesome.
Glen
x2 on david knight. Also own a couple of strunk bows that are top notch.
David Knights website is no longer up. Mike Yancey would be the one to get a kit from in my opinion. Dryad does'nt sell the kits anymore.
find one of JDs bows are ask him to be your friend...he still makes them for his friends... :)
Bob
There are a lot of nice used one out there. What weight are you lookin' for? tippit

Izzy sent you a PM.....stabow
Thank you Boyd, Ill check em out. Doc Tippit, 45# to 50#, with a matching knife. :saywhat:
Izzy,
Unfortunately that is my draw weight now. But I have a bunch 53-60# Vincent Minor, JD Jones, and Saluki's. As to matching knife, I haven't done a Bamboo Backed handle...but I'd be willing to try :) tippit
Sarrels Archery is making one now too, Izzy. i just saw one in January at a shoot we went to. It was a slick looking boo backed longbow with no fiberglass. It shot pretty good too.

The Blanks that Mike Yancey is selling are made by James Parker.
Hey Izzy,
I have an Osage / bamboo backed bow from Dryad that a friend made for me several years ago. It's 62" and a great shooter. I believe you can buy them almost finished, you just complete the tips and the grip? Something to get your feet wet with, if they still sell the kits.
Good luck. Tim
James Parker in NC makes as fine a bamboo bow as I have ever seen or shot......I also have a Vinson Minor bamboo bow that is sweet.....
How about Dean Torges
