Just received my new to me Centaur Chimera from Mike Burch, was everything Mike said it would be!!!! :jumper: Probably the quietest bow I have ever shot and for 47# was putting full length GT 55/75's with 145 field points to the target with authority even though I need to do some arrow tuning, was still very impressed!! Can't wait to tune and really put some arrows through it to see what it is really capable of. Thanks Mike, great guy to deal with!!!
I know, thread is useless without pics, will post as soon as I can!!!! :bigsmyl:
Congrats, can't wait to see pics

You beat me to it. Congrats on a fine bow!
Well I forgot my cord to connect my phone to computer for downloading pics. :knothead: Hopefully tonight I can get them on. Man does it shoot though!!!! I was so impressed with how smooth and quiet it was I almost didn't realize how quick it was. Spits a 29.5" 2018 with 145 up front to the target with authority!!! Very impressed, I see why they have such a reputation now. Really want to try some GT 35/55 next. More to come soon.
Sounds like a great bow. Pics
Pics! Jim just let me know mine shipped out today so hopefully ill have it by sat!
They are hot rods, that are quiet as a mouse!
Glad you are liking the Centaur Scott!
Mike
Is it the one with the beavertail grip? I leather wrapped a Centuar last night.... man it was tough with all those contours!
Yes Lamey, has a beavertail grip. I'm sure you are right, Mike would know better!!! LOL I can only imagine it with those contours!!! Thanks Mike, I love it so far and only got an hour or so of trying some diff arrows out of it last night before dark. Was surprised how well the 2018's shot out of a 47# bow??
I hear you on those Centaurs bow_man_66! It is really crazy how they shoot. The first arrow I shot through one....I was hooked. Jimmy has a
world class longbow.
I wound up taking the leather back off mine... after bout 5 hours of trying to get about 6 different grips fit.... went through about $30 of leather!!
I just liked the contours that Jim put into the grip, and I kinda lost them with the leather, plus I could never get the stitching just right due to the contours etc....
I will say Big Jim did a GREAT job on yours and I would love to have mine done like that someday.
Jim does a great job on his grips, fits the hand very good. Next is to have him build one to my hand print, as riverrat2 said, I'm hooked!!! I was afraid the beavertail would make the grip bulky but it isn't in the least. Love the smaller, narrow throat. Fits my hand just right!! Lamey, does yours have the finger grooves??? Would love to try one with them to see how they feel.
Mine doesnt have finger grooves and I actually like that grip better then the one with grooves. Even without grooves there are some subtle contours that really mold to the hand.
If you study a Centaur you will notice there are a ton of subtle little contours/shapes etc.. that all serve a purpose but arent readily visible in a photo or even a first glance.
Congrats! Can't wait to see the pics
Lamey, hows that Hoots bow shooting??? That's another one that's on my list to get!!! Lee builds a great bow!!!
Oh I love that little Hoot's recurve, I was a bit worried about it being so short, and me being more of a longbow guy, but I can really shoot that bow well.
Should have my Kanati quiver for it tommorow, and will post pics over on the "Hoots" thread thats taken on a life of its own ;)
I shot them last year at Kazoo and was super impressed by them. A buddy of mine was pulling a 56" bow over 31 inches and still didn't feel finger pinch!!! I was just about to contact Lee and order one when this Centaur came up and I couldn't pass it up. Don't regret it, just have to wait a bit for my Hoots!!! LOL I've been keeping up with your Hoots thread too, I know what you mean.

Thanks Elkchaser!!!! I will figure this out yet!!! I love the bow, Juniper limb veneers on belly, Tortoise Dymondwood riser, beavertail grip, 60" 47#@28. Just added the Kanati quiver yesterday.
Looks great!!
Very nice bow.

Here's a pic of mine with finger grooves. Where you located in MI? If you're anywhere near Greenville (45Min north of Grand Rapids) you're welcome to shoot mine - 47# @ 28".

Ron
That is gorgeous Ron!!!! Love antler engraving. I'm up in Mecosta, not far from you. Would love to get together and shoot some time, always looking to meet fellow trad shooters!!! Trying to make the bunny stomp next weekend over by St Johns if I can get out of a honey do list project we had planned!!!!
Let's get together some time. I get up to the Mecosta R&G Club once in a while. I've never shot bow there; only sporting clays, but I'm pretty sure they have archery ranges and probably 3-D.
We have a big to-do going on at our Flat River Conservation Club - a wild game dinner that I've donated a knife to and need to cook for; that will wipe out Saturday. Don't know what Sunday looks like, but I'm guessing it's already full.
Anyway, give me a shout sometime and we can shoot a couple of Centaurs and a couple of Lost Creeks. Very similar bows.
Ron
I would love to Ron, Mecosta R&G only a few miles from my house. Kids in basketball has me running diff directions right now. But yes we need to do that. Would love to check out a Lost Creek, admired many on here!!! Let me know when you have a free weekend and we will set something up.
Scott
Congrats on the new bow!
Very nice !...........this is getting me going as mine is probably being built as I write this.
Skinned Centaur Chimera !! I can't wait.
OOOOooooooooo!
