Title: Mudd's Merry Men O Sherwood Forest
Post by: Greg Szalewski on February 06, 2012, 08:46:00 PM
Thats right, Sherwood Forest In Sussex no less. Sussex Wisconsin that is.

I held a shoot last weekend at the club and of course I was wearing the proper head gear.

But this year another fella showed up equally well attired. I wish I could remember his name, but here he is anyway. I told him I was going to post it here so maybe he will show up.

Oh Dave... you've been spared buddy.

There are folks who are still getting eye treatments from looking at the sight of me walking behind the fire truck at a MoBoJam with only a breech clout..lol

Others are trying to get their hearing worked on after a dawn awakening to the melodious yodeling of yours truly.

Many have threatened to put an end to it but I never worried about it too much, I figured if the North Vietnamese couldn't hit me, they couldn't either...lol

God bless,Mudd

PS: The North Vietnamese had a much better reason than just my yodeling at them to try to shoot me...lol I tried my best to shoot at them 1st..lol

Hahaha!! Ron I think I could truthfully make that claim myself but I will also hopefully get that taken care of with a diet that won't include any "grits"...lol

Thanks for the approval/ok.

God bless,Mudd

Folks,
You may have noticed that I pick on Mudd quite a bit. Don't let it fool you. He's my best friend and an all around good guy. If I didn't pick on him, he'd think I was mad.

Aw shucks! Now you've gone and done it Butch.... folks are gonna start thinking I hang out with "yard gnomes"....lol

I do have to say that I am proud to call Butch a friend... now that he has a real bow to shoot...lol

It might be taller than him at 68"s but it can dot the "I" each and everytime(almost).

I don't know the manufacturer of Butch's new-to-him bow but I liked it enough that I told him if he ever decided to part with it, I'd sure give him back his investment.

God bless,Mudd

PS: I fully expect to be getting new pictures of it now that he has re-worked that awful grip and I hope the change there doesn't affect the way it shot before.

Yeah Butch.....we gotta keep ol' Mudd on his toes.  Quite often he mentions your name during our conversations.   Guess I should not tell you what he says here tho....LOL!    :readit:

Honestly, he speaks highly of you and I am thankful he has you as his friend.  Will enjoy meeting you one day sir.

But can you and do you sing the Robin Hood song.

Robin Hood Robin Hood riding through the glen.

Robin Hood Robin Hood with his ban of men.

Feared by the bad loved by the good.

Robin Hood Robin Hood Robin Hood.

Sorry I got kind of carried away lol. Don't remember the rest of the words. I use to love to watch Richard Green on the weekly TV shows.

This is my Robin Hood song that I wrote many years ago. It is sung to the tune of The Streets of Laredo.

As I walked down through the green debts of Sherwood
as I walked down through fair Sherwood one day
I met a young bowman all dressed in green Lincoln all dressed in green lincoln and singing so gay

"Brace the bow oh so tight, it has to be just  right
then place the cloth yard against it's side
A strong arm to draw it, then gently release it and true to it's mark the arrow will fly"

I ask the young bowman from whence he had come there
he said I'm an outlaw, in hiding am I
The grass is my bed and the leaves are my pillow
my walls are the trees and my roof is the sky

He said, I shot an arrow at yonder stag there
the keen edge broadhead pierced clear through his side
he ran to the forest, where he sought safety
he fell to the ground and there he died

Three blast from my horn brought my men from the greenwood
we carried the stag to our camp in the glen
we roasted and toasted, of long shots we boasted
no better companions than my Merry Men

His song slowly faded away in the greenwood
was he ever really here at all?
now listen so faintly...the sound of a horn there would that be...could that be...Robin Hoods call?

What a great video! Family laughter in the background; birds on flight; primitive fire start and the list goes on of many things that bring a smile and comfort. I dare say Ron, your voice with that song could soothe a crying child    :campfire:

I always enjoy your easy way of singing. Looking at the picture it appears that the knife  hides what the pants expose.   :saywhat:
