Any good ideas for a new bow with Cocobolo Riser as far as veneers?
Thank you
I have a Cocobolo widow riser, with osage limbs. Great looking combination.
A buddy of mine got a new bow(Hill) and it was red Elm with a cocobolo riser. I think it is one sharp bow and has a natural camo to it.
I also have a cocobolo riser with osage limbs and really like that combination....

Hard to beat coco and bacote

Cocobolo Riser and Osage Limbs is what I went with on my Thunderstick III.

I think yew would be cool and slightly different as would bird's eye maple (stained?). Myrtle might be cool too.
Initially I would agree on the osage (it is one of my favorite woods) but I had a coco/osage bow and once the osage darkened the bow had no contrast. Just something to consider since most folks like the contrasting colors.
What doesn't look nice with cocobolo? I have recurves with cocoblolo and yew limbs, coco with stained elm, and coco with zebra. I think I like the cocobolo with yew the best.
I think cocobolo with nicely figured myrtle would be a great combination too but haven't seen it yet.
Cocobolo and myrtle
Juniper, Osage and Myrtle is awesome with cocobolo.
Just remember to match the hue in the woods :)
Bill I am sick of seeing that bow every where! Would you just stop it. LOL! Every time I see it I want one!
I have a silvertip being made right now with highly figured yew limbs and cocobolo riser.
This is what it looked like when I sent it, waiting for its return.....a couple of weeks!

I really like bocote, curly koa and tulipwood combined with cocobolo also.
Just herniated two disks in my back, so I wont be shooting it. So I hope it looks good!
Chad Holm made me an Osprey with a cocobolo riser with an Osage "I" beam and Tamo Ash lams.....really nice!

Those Robertsons can really put a bow together
X2 on the coco and juniper/cedar combo..
x3 Cocoabolla and cedar or Juniper veneers. Or Cocoabolla and good ole red elm veneers.
Cocobolo and Osage, Yew, Bamboo its just hard to go wrong.
Camphor Burl or Carpathian Elm

Cocobolo and bacote gets too "busy."
As someone above said coco with yew, osage or bamboo is the way to go.
I think Cocobola looks good with about anything.
Cocobolo/ red elm, Cocobolo/yew are my favorite!
Coco is cool
Coco and curly ash, juniper, tulipwood, creme etimore.
My favorites are osage, yew and curly maple. The last being my favorite, either natural or with a light stain...Mike
I like cocobolo with most woods. Here it is with myrtle. Brian (http://images.imagelinky.com/1328576722.jpg) (http://images.imagelinky.com/1328576722.jpg)

Cocobolo and Yew.
Beautiful bows!!! God bless.
Cocobolo looks good with about anything, but Yew would be my choice.
Some great ideas I appreciate it...
Eastern red cedar is sharp with coco.

My favorite two woods are Macassar (Risers) and Cocobolo (Risers). I like Myrtle and Juniper or Eastern Red Cedar for limb veneers. I have a Habu that is cocobolo riser and limbs.
Mitch, the number one choice so far is cocobola and yew. For sheer resale value, you should use that.
Jarrod,
You are too much.. :banghead:
What Draw weight do you like so I know when I place my order...
Cocobolo is a great wood because the weight it adds to the riser,it matchs well with everything,my choices are Red Eastern Cedar,Juniper and Yew.
My longbow is Cocobolo riser & nose with Spalted Sycamore veneers.

While cocobolo goes with about anything, cocobola and yew make a great combination without looking over done.
KennyM (Kenny's Custom Archery) has some "angle cut" action wood in desert camo that may look pretty slick together. I am doing something similar but in reverse...I will post and let you know how it turns out.
Mitch--those black limba veneers on your old RER CXR would look good on a coco riser if your tastes trend toward darker woods.
If you go with one of the lighter woods, a contrasting overlay is nice. Here is a pic of my Treadway Black Forest with bamboo limbs and a leopardwood overlay on a reddish coco riser. (Sorry the pic has the bows somewhat in their own shadow).

Hey Gater1 , Photobucket pics of my Cocobolo and Tiger Myrtle limb veneers can be seen on BW web site and page five (Greybark`s New Bow) . Good balance of colours in riser and limbs . Really pleased and shoots as good as it looks .
Cheers from the West Coast of Canada...
