Title: low spine shafts?
Post by: Hermon on February 06, 2012, 11:02:00 AM
I am looking for some shafts for my wifes bow.  She has just started shooting and is only pulling 24# @ 25" (old Wing Falcon recurve).  Don't really like the 1/4" wood kids arrow with the crimped on point.  What do some of you use?  1535 GT's are too stiff unless I really weight them up, then they are SLOW!  Anyone ever use GT lightnings?  I am open to suggestions.

You can make 1/4" poplar arrows and use regular tapered glue-on points pretty easily.
Or, Hildebrand has 9/32" Sitka spruce shafts in low spines. They have the right points for them, too.

I would reccomend the Hildebrands also. I bought 2 doz. to have around for the kids. Nice shafts! Don't forget points from  them I had to go back and reorder some.

Can get a lot of 5/16-inch cedar shafts that would work fine.  Common diameter for nock and points as welll.

Go over to sponsors classifieds and look for Green (user name) he makes great youth and lower weight bow arrows. He uses surewoods.
