Got into the woods a little later than I wanted to. Left the tree stand in my truck, and just brought my $4 foam pad. So I sat behind a beech tree, that I sat behind the night before. I shuffled around a lot trying to get comfortable and make sure I had clearance to draw and move. I was unsure of where I was sitting but stuck with it. Then I began to think of all the things going on in my life. So I began to pray and thank god for all the things in my life and that if he could see to having a deer come in front of me and guide my arrow to it. Within seconds my prayers were answered. I heard something far off to my right and then I saw movement. One deer. Two deer. Three deer. They came down from a wooded patch into the gulley. I watched the lead deer come in pretty fast and I prepared for the shot. The lead deer was almost in my shooting lane and stop about a foot short, then the second deer came to the same spot and pounced forward like a cat after it's toy mouse. I almost laughed. It stopped where it landed and went to get a snack from the ground and I drew back the bow and next thing I can remember is watching the lazer nock lit up flying towards the deer. I saw it hit it right in the lungs and it jolted, then took of on a dead sprint. It ran up the gully got about 60yrds in 6 seconds and rolled. I instantly started to cry and thanked the lord for the gift he gave me. It had been since nov 2008 since I shot my last deer and my first trad deer. I need to thank my friend Luke Shaw for allowing me to stay at his house, hunt his property, and for being a great friend. And most importantly God and my loving and supporting family.
I used a 51# Tree prickly ash longbow that was won at the Great Ohio Rabbit Hunt. Beman ICS Bowhunter 300 with 30%foc 100gr brass insert 125gr broadhead adapter 165gr ace broadhead and 35gr footing carbon express lazer nock 730gr total weight. KOM AND SLEEPING INDIAN CLOTHES ARE AWESOME.

I have to tell this one on my bud. :notworthy:
I replied to ask if it was a buck or doe.
Responce said "doe"
Later I received another saying "Opps button buck"
I know how often this happens when someone has been under the bucket for such a long time.
Still, great to hear he finally knocked that monkey off his back. :clapper:

Since '08 you say...that's quite a dry spell.
Didn't take the good Lord very long to wash the dust out of your throat.
The Power of Prayer is just AMAZING!! Congrats on the Day!!
Great deer...you will surely enjoy the meat off that one! It's amazing how your 'luck' can change in just a matter of seconds. Exactly the reason why most of us here love hunting.
Thank you very much all of you. I really appreciate it, and glad to see how many of you understand the wonders of prayer. Thanks again. If I can't share the lords bounty of the meat I can at least share the story.

And all God's people said....Amen!
I had a similar experience. I had not seen any deer for days. I closed my eyes and prayed for many things, one was to except His will whether I would be able to be successful in harvesting a deer or not. As I opened my eyes, through the sunlight of western light emerged a whitetail, all alone about 30 yards. I never heard it, it was calm, no wind. As it approached closer, it was like on a string, I felt the warmth of a gift from someone who loved me. I thought, what a wonderful gift, thank you! As I harvested that whitetail, I became overwhelmed with tears of joy, and thankfulness. He touched my heart and spoke to it, the feeling was an undeniable faith that He is real and He was responsible for the gift. There is no explaining this to someone without faith, your just nuts, to us others no more words are necessary. It has made every journey into the wilderness a spiritual experience since then, no matter the outcome. Hunting with bow and arrow just seems like the way it was intended for me, it has been a wonderful journey so far, more than I could have hoped for. Congradulations! What a gift!
Congratulations Matt! Thanks for that  Hart warming Story!
