Im not caught up with speed or I would not be trying this kind of set up. But at some point you are just to slow. Im talking no more than 20 yds. Is 126fps too slow? Just playing but love the way this arrow feels out of my Matlock.
As long as you can handle the arc, it's not too slow. I doubt that anything is going to hear it coming; they might see it, tho. :D
What weight is your bow?
Try throwing it. Just kidding. If it ever gets there it'll probably blow right on through. Course, you might have to fire Charge 8 Red Bag to compensate for that nonstandard weight. Heavy is good though.
Heavy is good if you have the draw weight to shift it and an animal that needs it.
Well, for me with the light poundage bows I shoot, I wouldn't be shooting an arrow that was traveling at only 126 fps simply because there has to be quite a bit of arrow drop in trajectory from 10 to 20 yards.
Dr. Ashby used the example of the New Guinea tribesman that shoot a 3900 gr. arrow that is 4 ft long with 40% FOC and designed there bows around the arrow. The bow shot 80#s and was between 7 and 8' long. The arrow traveled less than 100ft/sec and there average shot at antelope was 22 yds with complete pass throughs. Momentum by use of heavy FOC arrows. Pretty neat stuff in my mind anyway.
I'll take a guess and say your are shooting app. 60#?
Sorry, I should have given some specifications. Matlock. Predator longbow 51 lbs at my 28". Thanks for the help!
GOOD GRIEF!! :scared: Are ya shootin' Elephants at Close Range or Yugos on the Fly?? Maybe "Lobbing" Arrows across the City?? It just sounds like a Mighty Heavy Duty Arrow out of that Bow Weight! Maybe Incapacitating ICE CREAM Trucks from a Block Away??
