I just recieved some brass inserts(5/16),and they are not a tight fit in my GT 5575 shafts. The aluminum inserts that were in the arrows are a more snug fit. Just wondering if this normal and will they glue up o.k.? :dunno:
I shot them in my GT's all the time with no issues. I use hot melt glue so can fix if needed. Just get a good coat of glue on and make sure your arrow is cut square. With glue you can spine tune to check before it is set.
If you want a good fit go with the GT 100 gr. inserts.

And maybe you already know this, but take a gun brush (or something similar) and rough up the inside of the shaft a little before gluing. Makes a big difference.
A little light work with a rat tail file works also. The GT has a real slick inside. Inserts will pop out if you don't get a good bond.
I have never had any problems glueing brass inserts into any 5/16 carbon shaft.
They should be snug enough as to not have any .

The brass inserts you are talking about work fine in Gold tips and many other 5/16" shafts. The inside diameter of a gold tip is slightly bigger than the others though and the makers of the insert made them as a universal. They will be just fine.
If you want tighter, Gold tip makes a 100g brass isert that will only fit there shafts. It is a bit longer but a very nice fit. We have both in stock and they are priced the same.

Anyone try the Muzzy 50gr. brass inserts in a CX Heritage 150?How's the fit...tight...any slop?
I agree with above, they will glue up fine.
I went with JB weld... just because they definitely felt like they were too loose. It was all I had at the moment and I was too impatient to even ask. Works great, haven't had any loosen up yet, with a couple hundred stumps. I keep thinking I probably should have used the hot melt just so I could recycle them a little easier later. But will more than likely go with the GT insert from BigJim's next time.
My biggest regret in install... I didn't do it broadheads in to align them properly, so now I need to properly refletch them to align my arrows properly.... or just buy/build more. It falls under the old adage, You learn more through money/parts wasted.
Thanks a lot Guys, I have only done up one so far and I used hot glue. I have a 2 part epoxy from 3Rivers that I'll use for the final task. I've also never used the apoxy, I hope that when I cut off the tips on the viles they don't spill out all over everything :campfire:
For what it's worth, you don't need to use epoxy. You can, for sure, but it's pretty overkill and prevents you being able to take them out and adjust after they set. The Quick Stick that Big Jim has or even Ferrel Tite works fine and is easier to work with. Just a couple cents' worth...
I have been using 3 Rivers low heat glue stick with brass inserts and never had one come out. I don't clean or run something down the shaft to scratch the inside. I heat the insert and glue and then push it into the shaft. If I want to take it out I just take out the point and heat the threads and screw it back in. Takes a few seconds and they pull right out. Why waste a good brass insert with epoxy, when you can do it this way and can reuse it if something happens to the shaft.

Mbugland, I wouldn't worry about aligning broadheads. Not necessary on trad bows since they don't have the hyper speed that the wheel bows have.
I would steer clear from the ferrel tight on carbons. It cools brittle and although some don't seem to have problems, most do. The quickstick however RULES!.
The Muzzy brass inserts fit very snug in the CX Heritage.

I use gorilla glue gell(impact formula) It expands when dried! I haven't had any issues yet even when I've missed and hit a cemet wall! Propper cleaning is the key,like others have said!!!
Local archer shop glue stick and BIG JIM'S brass inserts and my G/T's have never failed.
