I have a black Mountain/Dryad shaman and cruz the classifieds daily and have never seen one for sale. Is it because other owners love their Shamans as much as me? Or just not a popuar bow? what do you have that you never see for sale?
Very rare to see a Sivertip with a low draw weight, 40-49#'s. I finally found won 52# @ 29 and tried to trade for a set of limbs....no luck. So I just ordered a new set of limbs from Dave and Beth. I think most guys hunt them and shoot heavier poundage. You don't see many Blacktails either. Some bows there is just not a lot of them out there!
I don't own one, but have been looking. The ones I've found so far were lefties. I'm the other hand.
62" 55-60# Rocky Mtn Recurve
Troy
Norm Johnson Snakebit. I see some Blacktails for sale, but never see those Snakebits.
Also - I occasionally see a few EB Holcomb's but I NEVER see a Vintage Works for sale. Maybe they are just too new.
I'm always looking for a light weight shrew 40-42 lbs at 28" . I have yet to see one in that range for sale. Finally got tired of looking and got on the list. It's about a twelve month wait now.
With my luck , now one will pop up for sale.
I RARELY see any Black Widow PTFs for sale. I wish people hated em and wanted to sell em.
Saluki's, never!
Have not seen one from Leon Stewart, not that I saw anyway
I take it back, there has been two slammer's in the last month, nothing before that
I here ya on the PTF's , I also have one of those on order.
Original Silvertips. I've seen one 1 piece for sale awhile back. I've never seen a 3 piece recurve for sale, but I'm still fairly new to trad archery.
Rarely do you find a Marriah Thermal for sale.
I seldom see an Owl bow or Leon Stewart ... pretty rare to see one for sale.
Bob.
Yep, those listed rarely pop up, very rare indeed. I think it may be related to how many are out there especially in the lower poundages. I'm glad some of them don't pop up, only thing that keeps me out of trouble.
Hoyt Pro Hunter Special. I have one and it is a sweet shooting bow. 62" and 44# at 28" draw. I don't think I have seen another one for sale.
You also have to consider how many were/are being made in the equation as well. The more made, the more will come up for sale.
You see lot's of Widows but few PA's
Been a while that I have seen a Saluki recurve.
Cool thread! bingo on the PTF's,lower poundage widows are tricky also.
John Maus out of Glennie, Mich makes a great bow. You seldom see his "Autumn Storm" long bow or his recurves up for sale.
Frank San Marcos Longbows and John Schulz Longbows! Pretty rare and grab them when you can!
Habu Hycurves or Recurves rarely show up. Takes a long time to get one, I imagine few folks want to start over.
Dale Dye, Marriah Thermal, Sleybow, and I am lucky to own one of each. However, none of them shoot as good as my Bigfoot Bow (Thanks, Kirk)
Got a Habu in classi that shoots better than a TF. And an Eddie Francisco LB that very rarely shows up. Both fantastic bows. Lefties..... but great for Lefty shooters for a change!

That's right. How many BW PAXs(I like tulip wood) do you ever see in the classifieds?
Also, you don't see very many JK Kanatis come up for sale here either. Probably about one per month, if that. Mine's not gonna be one of them either, at least not in the near future!
1 piece Tips in 45#s @28"s!!! Anyone? :dunno:
I would agree on Kanatis. Don't typically see many Robertsons for sale, either.

Acadian Woods are rare, too.
I rarely see a Tomahawk for sale on the classifieds and understand why. They are a great bow.
Lonetree Longbows are rare as well as Frederick Longbows. Also Dakota Recurves
Fred Anderson Hyak
Bob Savage Deathmaster
Bear bow from 1947
You will never see one of my Schulz Legends for sale.
I forgot to add Black Widow PSR, I had an early one when they were called Short Black Stick, 44# @ 29" mine was 60". I should have kept that one......very rare to see one for sale or trade!
how about Big Foot Bows seldom do you see them.
I have seen several Slammers for sale. And a few PTF's lately. And several Robertson R/C and LBs.

I second John Maus's Autumn Storm and I'm hunting rabbits with mine tomorrow....I think...
Dont usually see to many Abbotts listed in the classifieds. Great bow, I guess a lot of guys wont give em up!
Hardly see any Elburgs, and Harry made a lot of bows.
I've never seen a Nels Grumley bow for sale. :D
Sweptwing
Rosewood Super Diablos.
I pretty sure I have NEVER seen a Lil' Suckling recurve for sale.
You don't see alot of Palmers either...
I've not seen any of Gregg coffey's Javaman bows, in awhile. I know mine will never be sold by me !
Spitfire horse bow by Chris Constantine.
How about a LH 1967 1/2 Super Kodiak
Yep Doug or a signed Type 1 riser LH! :banghead:
I haven't seen hardly any Talon bows by Dave Paxton come up for sale!
I have been looking to try a PSR, Hoots, and Kanati. I have not seen any of them in the length, and weight I want for a while now.
Here are a few you seldom see, Wallace mountain, Colombian blacktail snakebit, Frederick longbows
Roseoak, stotlers, groves flame hunter
Dick Robertson,especailly his older recurves.
Zipper Elk antler riser bow.
GN Ghost and super ghost
I thought of a couple more.......Howatt Hi-Speed or a Martin Mamba in low 40#'s. You see a few in the 50#'s but rare to see in the 40's. Not that many Ben Pearsons either.......
Jack Howard Bows. Been looking for sometime for a Gamemaster Jet, no luck so far.
I have never seen one of Scott Mitchell's TimberHawk bows for sale..I own two and they are not for sale either..
Jack B Harrison's or Saluki's
Matt
Tom Kelley.... I bought a Tom Kelley bow recently from a TG'er. It's about 50 or 52" long...uses a 48" string. Had never heard of Kelley before and still don't know much about him.
That little bow blew me completely away.....52# @ 28" and it shoots like a rifle. I wanted a short bow for ground hunting in my Ghillie and had no idea that I'd like that bow so much.

Am always watching for one of those.
Jerry Pierce Choctaw i have only seen one in person..
Only a few of Dave Guthrie's Appalation bows show up over the years. The Savage River takedown recurve was the quietest bow I've ever shot. Got my first trad kill with a cocobolo risered one....
Foley Bows out of Texas. My son has one of Ron's 3 piece longbows bought at Comptons 3 years ago. I have never senn one on the classifieds.
Jim Belcher bows or Kota takedowns. I own both and will probably not part with them.
I don't think I have ever seen A LONE EAGLE long bow or recurve by Gene Smith.
Bob Savage "Deathmaster"I wanted one of those bad and then by the time I could get one they were gone.I saw one in an auction once in a great hunting weight ,thought no one would know what it was. When the bidding started,I was left in the dust, with a dumb look on my face. The old Brazilian rosewood bows dont pop up to often either.Like the older Howatts, gorgeous performers.
John McCullough Fiftyniners , rare as they come. When they occasionally pop up in the classifieds they are gone immediately.
Great Northern, only once in a while.
Black Canyons. Great bows you never see for sale.

Border Bows
Never seen a PAW for sale :-(
Assenheimer. Rare to see one posted for sale. Great shooters!
Rampart bows, John makes some really nice bows, ex cabinet maker retired to making bows. Attention to detail is fantastic and shoot better than they look. Three piece longbows and recurves. Never see them come up with the exception of RMSG. I think that is the only place he sells them now.
The bow I see the least often is the one I want with the specs I want at a sale price to good to be true! Never hurts to dream:)
Don't seem to see a lot of Damon Howatt Montereys for sale. Not sure how many were made.

x2
Bigfoot bows seem to have NO representation in the classifieds. I don't know if I have ever seen one of the Bigfoots there.
I have a "Predator" longbow made by Bill Matlock. I've had it for a lot of years and really love it. I've always kept an eye out for a used one to pop up, but have never seen one that I can recall.
Low poundage Blacktail recurves are far and few inbetween when it comes to re-sale.
Even if I was desperate for money, I wouldn't sell either one of my Blacktails.
Hollenbeck and Sweptwing come to mind. Both great bows but not many around..........IJ
Can't say "never", but very few Green Mtn. longbows by Jim Duclos out of VT. Know I won't sell mine!
Little Suckling recurve, always wanted to try out one of these!
You don't see many of Dan Quillian's bows for sale.I had a Canebrake...wish I still did.
savage deathmaster. Bought one in an auction one time. Would love another
I've only ever seen two Brad Moore bows for sale anywhere and I own one of them. If I saw another, I might just have to buy it :)
Was looking for a 1pc Silvertip around 50#@29",for about a year, and did not see one. I think I saw 2 that were a lot heavier.
My new one is due in April :bigsmyl:
McCullough 59'ers are also as scearse as HENS TEETH

Post up some pics of your new Silvertip when you get it. One piece 'tips are a really nice looking bow. Been watching for one myself and like you said...very rare. I do have a 59'er though.
to the best of my knowledge in the last 6 years four EagleWings have been offered for sale. One broken shoulder, One ended up here and I resold it used,. One divorce. One was sold for unknown reason. I presume to buy another bow. He is now buying another Talon 11 carbon.
I have taken a few back in trade on new models and resold them. The odds of getting one used are pretty slim.
God bless you all, Steve
You won't get mine back Steve, unless its to fit me some new longbow limbs. grin
Bob Savage DEATHMASTER
If anyone has one to sell in the 50# area I would like to talk.
You rarely see original Staghorn bows out of Wisconsin. I know Mike is reintroducing the one piece that will be FF string compatible.
Another tough one is Pearson Maruders or Mercury Marauder T/D's. I'm sure in someone's closet, basement, garage etc...one of these bows is just laying around waiting for someone to claim it.
Brown Recluse,.......I understand they are back in production.
Once in a blue moon you'll see a GW Flannagan and I've only see one Dave Johnson longbow.
God bless,Mudd
Rocky Miller's Herritage Bows, Jack Smith's Blackhawk Longbows, and the Acadianwoods One Piece recurve. Also the Mon River bows & Brackenberry bows don't show up much either.
Dang, Looks like I'd better start posting some bows for sale. I have about 1/2 of the list that I've been thinking about selling! Course they tend to be in higher poundage from my younger days :)
If you see a David Miller, Hawk for sale, it won't be mine. And, I would have a tough time passing up one.
For the number of BW PTF`s produced very few in classified . A recent one on the BW Site sold within hours .
Cheers from the West Coast of Canada.
I wish we saw more Matlock longbows
Marriah Thermals. While I have two, three might just be the charm!
A LH 1961 Bear Kodiak
You don't see many Deathwish bows for sale either
Any time you are looking for a particular bow in a certain draw weight it is guaranteed NOT to be in the classifieds until 1 week after you give up and place an order for a new one.
Hardly ever see any bow i really want when i have the money for it...
Selway, Chaparral, and Jasper Cole bows always seem to elude me when im flush..
just makes the search that much sweeter!
Cochise
Horne's combo hunters are few and far between
Very rarely see lower weight Bighorns either. I was lucky to find a 46# curved limb bed model.
I had an Aboyer curve. I don't think their are very many around.
Not too many Scorpion longbows made by M.R. Hamilton available
Gus D.: Long River longbow.
Black Swan..........
You dont see to many Kempf bows for sale and when thet do come up there gone within thirty min.
Shawn
Dye, massey , ... :)
Jerry Pierce Choctaw recurve. Don't beleive there were 300 of them made total.
I guess you have to search a long time to find a nice used Bezaleel Cougar by Andy McCoy.
These
The bow on the right is the first bow BW ever sold with a skin on it.
The one on the left??? Well, the only thing I only have one of is a wife.
Oddly enough, you never see a Samick Sage in the classifieds. When you consider how many are sold and the fact that they are usually bought as a starter bow, you would think you would see them for sale as archers "move up" to a fancier bow.
Don't know if it's been said but you don't see many 21st Century bows for sale.
I have never seen a bow up for sale that Gary Sands built. I love his longbows. He is out of Iowa.
You never see any of my bows for sale. I have to learn to do this! I think I have 16 now!
I've noticed that most of the nice and possibly rare bows coming up for sale (like a Dye, Silvertip, Blacktail, and even BW), are usually more than 55#, and often in the 60s.
Often the seller says something about drawing less weight now due to age, injury, or preference. Do people just generally shoot less weight than they used to say 5-10 years ago?
Seems like the old average was about 55-60, and the new average is about 5# less.
How about one from Rodney Wright ? He makes some fine bows. I have one of his Stalkers and would love one of his Firehawks. Good guy to deal with too.
Jack Howard Gamemaster; Smithwick Citation; Harold Groves Spitfire Magnum or Spitfire.
Will I think a lot of the young guys are shooting compounds and old farts like myself have gone down in wgt.I would like to see the average age of Trad Gang members.Kip
just saw a check mate attila in the classifieds that's one you never see for sale. great little bow.
Never say never...I received a box yesterday.. 60" 56#@28 TF (Before the PTF) Widow.
Found on the classifieds.. It's a shooter for sure,, Thanks Dwight.
LimBender, if you ask bowyers about weight most will tell you that they generally are making bows lighter in draw than they once did. I have done a number of bowyer interviews for TBM and basically every bowyer said the same thing. Just yesterday I had a chat with Steve Turay of Northern Mist and he was saying that he has built bows now for 23 years...many were in the 60-65# range back then but now he finds the most common weight ordered is mid-40s to low 50s. Most bowyers will agree I think. We have learned what the old time archers and hunters knew--you don't need all that much weight. When guys started shooting the compound device they could draw heavier and still only hold 50% of that weight (in the early days of the compound let-off ran 35-50%). When they moved to trad gear they thought they still needed/wanted that weight.
Cooks Mountain bows. You dont see any of them. They are a great bow.
I don't talk with many bowyers, unfortunately, but it sure seems like the classifieds have more heavy used bows than lighter ones, and the light ones don't last very long. I think it shows we're getting older (if not smarter!)
I know I sure do enjoy shooting a bit lighter bow than I once did.
I have never seen a Pronghorn "50's Model" recurve for sale. Not many Pronghorn recurves,(Ferret) for sale either.
If you have a 50's recurve Herb made, I'll buy it. RH please. ;)
Very few RER XR's in mid 40lbs as well as 56" Treadway Longbows..
I do agree with the above the mid to high 40lb bows are so popular they hardly come up. With the performance of new strings, they are very efficient
Never seen any bows from Wilderness Bows by Neil Russell for sale. Always thought the"Traveller" 3pc longbow was cool.
Jim Reynolds (Thunderstick bows) "arrow inlay" bows. He only makes them for donation to trad archery fund raiser auctions. I saw one for sale once, the seller changed his mind when I offered to buy it.
I've been looking for ever for a Jack Howard Gamemaster Jet, Browning Explorer I and a Savage Deathmaster... Still no luck... ~Steve
I cant remember the guys name but he was in the original Trad Bowyers of America by Dan Bertalaan. A former Marine, he built SCORPION Longbows. I always thought I would like to shoot and own one of his bows....but have never seen one for sale.
I would also like to find my old Noble Longbow with "Shorthair" on the Built For line I sold in moment of weakeness around 1996-1999....LOL
other bows I have searched for off and on with little luck...
Bill Stewart with cam action limbs
Kim-Sha by Tom Parsons
Silvertip in a 50-58# range...seems all I see are in 70s and up that someone bought and now does not want...hahaha
Dean Torges bamboo backed osage selfbow...
John Strunk selfbows
Vintage Works 1959 Replica....
LH Dale Dyes, I screwed up and sold mine and have only found one for sale since and it was at the wrong time for me financially. I check everyday!
D.P.
I see several Howard Hill Bows floating around, but not Many! Mostly are above My Price Limit and Weight! Dang It!! Someday..... My $300 and 50# Genuine Howard Hill Bow will come my way!! I have Complete Faith!!
You hardly ever see a Black Widow PTF for sale and when you do see the rare one show up its never in your specs and if you do see the double rare one show up in your specs, it already sold 10 minuets before. :banghead:
Frank Eicholz bows..
ragim wildfire
Foley
Sky Bows or Dryad All Natural
Vintage 1967 Bear Archery bows (especially Super Kodiaks!)appear to be more rare than hen's teeth...
MR Hamnilton Scorpion Longbow
Matlock Longbows
and
Long River Longbows by Gus Dellaghelfa
I'm lucky to have 3 Matlocks and four Long River's and my first longbow was a Scorpion Longbow which i still have.
A Bitterroot longbow by Red Chavez.
Hard to even find a picture of one. I was lucky enough to trade for one locally. Great bow
I'm lucky enough to have two BW TFV's in Ironwood... You will NEVER see these bows for sale! My wife would have me sleeping in the dog house if I posted either one of them on Trad Gang... ...
... mike ...
