Title: Hickory bows don't like carbon...or I hate when this happens
Post by: 30coupe on February 02, 2012, 08:00:00 PM
The weather was great today, so I decided to do a little shooting with my homemade hickory bow this afternoon. It really shoots 2016s like darts, but today I thought I'd give carbon a try. I slipped a Beman ICS Bowhunter 500 into my quiver with the 2016s and about the third round, this happened:

I'm getting to really hate Robin Hoods.     Way too expensive! On the plus side, the 500 was in the bull's eye. This one's a shooter for sure!

Ya, you best just get rid of that bow!

Does it by any chance have a 29" draw rating?   :D

Nice shooting!

Nice shooting Russ. You have a neat shooting rig right there. Plenty to be proud of!

It's 66" and 48# @ 27" David. It's 1 1/2" at the fades and tapers to 1/2" at the nocks, pyramid design.

ROBIN HOODS!

The first one or two are pretty dang cool.......after that they are just money in the trash can.

Congrats on some fine shooting!

I'd be dancing around the Target offering up thanks to the "ancestors of traditional archery", can't wait for my first one with traditional gear. I know they're costly, but cool just the same! What distance was that from? Not that it matters all that much, just curious.

Yup, I've done it enough times to be less than thrilled when I hear that grating sound!

This one was from about 14 yards.

Yep, robin hoods are a love hate sort of thing for sure. Great shooting and a mighty nice looking bow.
